The Rotaract Club, in collaboration with the Environment Ministry, AUSDG Club, Anitya & Neev — with incredible support from SLO — stepped beyond campus walls to make a difference.
From Gate 1 to Gate 2 outside Ashoka University, students collected 20 bags of plastic, paper & cloth waste 🗑️♻️

Rotaract collaborated with the Environment Ministry, AUSDG Club, Anitya, and Neev with immense support from SLO to conduct a Community Cleaning Drive. More than 40 students came and were divided into 4 groups to pick up trash and clean the road from gate 1 to gate 2 right outside Ashoka University as a way to improve our shared spaces. The volunteers collected 20 garbage bags of plastic, paper and cloth waste. This encouraged and reinforced the importance of civic consciousness beyond campus boundaries.

Ashoka University pays homage to André Béteille, First Chancellor of Ashoka University

The Ashoka community is deeply saddened by the passing of Andre Béteille, a world-renowned scholar, beloved teacher and mentor, and the First Chancellor of Ashoka University. He passed away on 4 February 2026, leaving behind an extraordinary legacy that helped shape the foundation of the institution and the values it stands for today.

Professor Béteille was associated with Ashoka from its very inception and played a pivotal role in establishing its pre-eminent Academic Council. He also taught at Ashoka’s flagship Young India Fellowship (YIF) programme from its founding years. As Chancellor, he led the University’s governing body with wisdom, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to academic excellence.

His passing is a profound loss to the academic community and to the entire Ashoka family. His moral and intellectual legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.

Our thoughts are with Professor Béteille’s family and loved ones. His contributions to building Ashoka University are invaluable, and his presence will be deeply missed.
