Successful Completion of Five-Day Workshop on “Experimental Study on Electric Vehicle Drivetrain Using MATLAB-Based Motor Controller and Battery Management System” ⚙️🚗
The Department of Electrical Engineering, School of Engineering and Technology, Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), Awantipora, successfully organized and concluded a five-day hands-on workshop from 9th to 15th October 2026, focusing on Electric Vehicle (EV) drivetrain modeling, simulation, and experimental analysis.
The workshop provided students, researchers, and faculty with practical exposure to EV systems, integrating MATLAB/Simulink-based motor control, Battery Management Systems (BMS), and real-time data acquisition techniques, bridging the gap between theory and industry applications.
With the launch of the M.Tech program in Electric Vehicle Technology (EVT), this workshop provided the very first batch of students an exciting hands-on introduction to EV systems and practical industry exposure.
Workshop Highlights:
• Comprehensive sessions on EV drivetrain architecture, BLDC/PMSM motor control, and battery technologies.
• Hands-on MATLAB/Simulink training for FOC and DTC-based motor control strategies.
• Practical demonstrations on motor controller configuration, communication interfaces, and data logging systems.
• Industrial visits to TATA Technologies and CIIT Baramulla, connecting theoretical learning with real-world EV applications.
• Expert talks and interactive sessions led by academicians and industry professionals, enriching participants’ understanding of emerging EV technologies.
This workshop offered participants an opportunity to gain hands-on experience with advanced EV drivetrain technologies, understand battery and motor integration, and explore innovative solutions shaping the future of electric mobility.
A special thanks to all resource persons, participants, organizing members, and coordinators for making this event a resounding success!
