For the 2025–2027 batch, students were placed for concurrent fieldwork across diverse developmental settings located in the districts of Chennai, Kanchipuram, and Thiruvallur. This arrangement offered an intensive and enriching fieldwork experience, allowing students from various disciplines to gain first-hand exposure to conducting social casework, facilitating social group work, and engaging with communities. Through these placements, students were able to understand the multifaceted nature of fieldwork practice, organizational functioning, and professional roles. This foundational experience provides a strong base for their future fieldwork days and upcoming semesters.

In this video, students share their reflections and feedback, highlighting the key learnings and insights gained from their experiences in different organisations. Here is a polished and complete version of your paragraph, with clarity, coherence, and academic tone. I have kept all your points and shaped them into a smooth narrative.
Overall, the fieldwork experience provided diverse exposures for the students across multiple developmental settings. One of the most significant and innovative aspects of this year’s fieldwork was the use of AI-based tools to communicate and navigate effectively with local Tamil-speaking communities. Since many students came from different states and linguistic backgrounds, these tools played a crucial role in enabling meaningful engagement, rapport building, and culturally appropriate communication.

In addition to direct practice, students were also involved in various governmental initiatives and developmental activities. For example, they participated in programs coordinated by SIRD through BRDA, and contributed to other ongoing government-led community development tasks. Students were also engaged in conducting awareness programmes, community mobilization activities, data collection exercises, and organizational documentation, which helped them gain deeper insights into the functioning of social welfare systems.

We, the first year MSW Students of Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD), Ms.Shobha Singh, Ms.Volga M. G, and Mr.Ahmed Faiyz K. P, have developed an awareness video demonstrating how students can use AI-based translation tools to tackle language barriers.

This initiative is especially meaningful because many students are from different part of the country, frequently face language barriers, as they don't know Tamil, which is the native language of Tamilnadu, which affect communication and access to information during fieldwork. Our video aims to showcase how simple AI tools can help bridge this gap and support more effective interaction during fieldwork practice.

Developed as part of our concurrent fieldwork activities, this effort highlights the integration of technology into social work practice to enhance community engagement.

We sincerely express our gratitude to our Fieldwork Supervisor, Dr. H. Arokkiaraj, and our Head of the Department, Dr. S. Kumaravel, Department of Social Work, for their continuous guidance and encouragement throughout our fieldwork journey.
