As part of the culmination of World No To***co Month Celebrations (2026), Himachal Dental College, in collaboration with IDA Sundernagar Branch and GIPHI (a Canada-based NGO), successfully organized a Dental Screening, Oral Health Awareness, and To***co Awareness and Cessation Camp on Saturday, 30th May, at Come Back to Life De-Addiction Centre, Mandi. The camp provided an opportunity to screen the residents and educate them on maintaining good oral hygiene practices, including the correct use of dental floss and mouthwash, along with dietary counselling for better oral health. A specialized interactive session was also conducted on to***co use , highlighting its harmful effects on oral and general health, methods to quit the habit, and the importance of seeking professional support for cessation. The residents were informed about the to***co cessation counselling services available at Himachal Dental College and in locations closer to their homes, ensuring that support remains accessible whenever needed. Such community-based initiatives not only contribute to improving public health but also serve as invaluable learning experiences for our students, helping them develop clinical, communication, counselling, and public health skills while gaining a deeper understanding of the social dimensions of healthcare.
