Can AI actually read your thoughts?_

The CICS Ideas Forum* hosted an engaging session on Applied AI in Healthcare , led by Dr. Kiran Trivedi, PhD, Head of Discipline and Associate Professor of Computer Science at the University of Wollongong, GIFT City campus.

The session explored how real-world hardware like the ThinkGear Protocol and accelerometer sensors can measure brainwave data and metrics in real time. Dr. Trivedi demonstrated how EEG signals can act as direct prompts for LLMs to analyse human activity, emotional states, and concentration spans.

This technology opens up practical use cases for everyday devices. For instance, smartwatches and smartphones equipped with these advanced sensors could detect when someone is driving and automatically manage calls or notifications to prevent distractions and accidents. Beyond safety features, the team has even developed innovative solutions like AI models capable of deciphering the underlying meaning of an infant's cry (differentiating hunger from discomfort) and diagnostic tools that can screen for conditions like diabetes simply through tongue image analysis. These innovations rely heavily on vast, diverse datasets from clinics and hospitals.

The computer science and biomedical science students learnt that precise datasets matter, situational variables always shift the output, and combining domain expertise with AI can unlock massive medical breakthroughs.

The Centre for Interdisciplinary Computing Science (CICS), Navrachana University, hosted Mr. Maulik Bhansali (Maulik Bhansali ) , CEO, NetWeb Software ( NetWeb Software ), as part of its University-Wide Lecture Series, open to students across all programs.

Prof. Sandeep Vasant, ( Sandeep Vasant ) Director, CICS, opened the session by outlining the Centre's objectives, its philosophy of interdisciplinary research, and why conversations that cut across disciplines matter more than ever.

Mr. Bhansali's message was clear: as AI makes intelligence abundant, what was once common becomes scarce and far more valuable. The real edge now lies in 𝐣𝐮𝐝𝐠𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭, 𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐲, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲.

𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬:

🔹 Build T-shaped skills: go deep in your core, stay curious across domains

🔹 Ask "What problems can I solve?", not "What job can I get?"

🔹 Use AI to speed up your work, not to replace your thinking

Thank you, Mr. Bhansali, for an inspiring session! 🙏

A lifetime of reading comes to NUV to inspire students.

Today marks a special milestone with the inauguration of the Lord Bhikhu Parekh Study, inaugurated by Lord Bhikhu Parekh and his family alongside Smt. Tejal Amin, Chairperson, Navrachana University, and Prof. Pratyush Shankar, Provost, Navrachana University.

Featuring 1,800 personal volumes on Indian thought, Gandhian and South Asian studies, history, media, arts, and literature donated by Lord Bhikhu Parekh, the warm space invites students, faculty, and scholars to immerse themselves in research.

Lord Parekh shared that every book tells a story, including works he has authored, collected, or received as gifts, with the simple expectation that they will truly speak to every reader.

This generous donation reaffirms our shared belief that knowledge shapes our future and deepens NUV's continued commitment to academic excellence.

What does it really take to make a business decision?

Second-year MBA Management@NUV students explored this with Anchal Abrol, Founder, Snaqary, and participant in the IIM Bangalore–Goldman Sachs Women Entrepreneurs Programme. With Snaqary now listed across Blinkit, Zepto, Amazon, Amazon Now and Swiggy Instamart, Anchal brought the realities of entrepreneurship into the classroom.

From customers and margins to CAC, capital, risk and repeat purchases, the conversation was followed by Rapid Fire: Founder Edition:
₹1 Cr at 5% profit or ₹50 L at 20%?
Grow FAST or grow SUSTAINABLY?
DATA or GUT FEELING?
Safe 10% or risky 40% return?
Perfect product late or good product early?

Quick choices. Real trade-offs.

Because in business, there is rarely one right answer. What matters is understanding the situation, weighing the choices and making the call.
