The Cultural team of Saint Claret College (Autonomous), Ziro, performed the Apatani traditional ‘Pakhu Ittu’ dance at Lok Bhavan Chennai on February 20, 2026, on the occasion of the celebration of the statehood day of Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram.

The programme was hosted by the South Zone Cultural Centre under the aegis of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, on the invitation of the North East Zone Cultural Centre.

The prestigious event was presided over by the Hon’ble Governor of Tamil Nadu and witnessed the gracious presence of student leaders from Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram currently pursuing their studies in Chennai, further strengthening inter-state cultural bonds.

The August audience at Lok Bhavan, Chennai were given a glimpse of the rich cultural heritage of Arunachal Pradesh, through the traditional performance by the students in their colourful Apatani attire and props, which added flavour to the already charming dance. The Cultural troupe from SCCZ has earlier carried the rich cultural variety of Arunachal Pradesh to several colleges in South India in 2024 through their flagship Cultural Ambassadors program.

Recording Studio and Sports facility inaugurated

It’s ‘Promise Day’, and Claretines received a memorable gift in the form of a Recording Studio and Sports facility.
The inauguration of these two newly added features on campus was done by Shri Hage Appa, Hon’ble MLA, Ziro-Hapoli Constituency, in the presence of Rev. Fr. Mathew Vattamattam CMF, the Superior General of Claretians. The day’s events began with a short Cultural Programme showcasing the rich Cultural heritage of the State, and thereafter the new facilities were inaugurated and presented to the Claretines.
The recording studio is equipped with digital audio recording and editing hardware and software. The sound-proof recording studio is designed with aesthetic acoustic panels and lighting giving it a professional look and feel. The sports facility includes a multi-purpose playing space with two Volleyball courts. The synthetic turf ground is designed to provide the students optimum sporting experience. Additionally, Pickleball, one of the fastest growing sports, was introduced at SCCZ. The students and staff can henceforth enjoy playing Pickleball, on two courts earmarked for the purpose.

As part of their academic curriculum, BSW 2nd semester students from the Department of Social Work, Saint Claret College (Autonomous), Ziro, visited the Ziro Police Station for an observational learning experience on February 7, 2026. The students were provided with detailed insights into the police station's operational dynamics and powers by SI Jummar Doye, followed by a documentation of their observations and a wrap-up discussion with the police team.

Members of the Arunachal Pradesh Birding Club conducted a pre-GBBC (Great Backyard Bird Count) training session for the students of the Eco-Club at Saint Claret College (Autonomous), Ziro on February 5, 2025.

The session focused on hands on guidance in using the Merlin Bird ID app and eBird platform covering bird identification, recording sightings, uploading checklists, and following ethical birding practices. The training aimed to equip students with practical skills to actively participate in GBBC and contribute valuable citizen science data from the Ziro valley.

A contingent from our college represented the Apatani community at the 5th Arunachal Yuva Samanvay 2026, Chongkham Namsai, from 21 January to 24 January 2026, a four-day youth integration programme that focused on leadership, skill development, cultural exchange, and adventure learning.

The programme included cultural and literary events such as Arunachali Folk Story Telling and Declamation, while the non-competitive segment offered enriching workshops on Self-Defence, Soap Making, AI Creators, and Motivational Sessions, along with adventure activities like zip-lining, rafting, hot air balloon, and village walk. Our students actively participated in all sessions with enthusiasm and discipline.

We are proud to share the achievements of our students:
