The Cultural team of Saint Claret College (Autonomous), Ziro, performed the Apatani traditional ‘Pakhu Ittu’ dance at Lok Bhavan Chennai on February 20, 2026, on the occasion of the celebration of the statehood day of Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram.
The programme was hosted by the South Zone Cultural Centre under the aegis of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, on the invitation of the North East Zone Cultural Centre.
The prestigious event was presided over by the Hon’ble Governor of Tamil Nadu and witnessed the gracious presence of student leaders from Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram currently pursuing their studies in Chennai, further strengthening inter-state cultural bonds.
The August audience at Lok Bhavan, Chennai were given a glimpse of the rich cultural heritage of Arunachal Pradesh, through the traditional performance by the students in their colourful Apatani attire and props, which added flavour to the already charming dance. The Cultural troupe from SCCZ has earlier carried the rich cultural variety of Arunachal Pradesh to several colleges in South India in 2024 through their flagship Cultural Ambassadors program.
