È online il nuovo articolo dello storico Leonardo Anatrini, "Gestione e prevenzione del rischio idrogeologico nel bacino del Po (1872–1883)", pubblicato nella Rivista degli Istituti storici dell'Emilia-Romagna.

Parte dei risultati del progetto SCARER, l'articolo ricostruisce, nel quadro dell'Italia postunitaria, la formazione delle pratiche di gestione e prevenzione del rischio idrogeologico nel bacino del Po, assumendo Ferrara come caso di studio.

The new article by Leonardo Anatrini, "Management and Prevention of Hydrogeological Risk in the Po River Basin (1872–1883)", has been published in the Journal of the Historical Institutes of Emilia-Romagna.

The article reconstructs the emergence of hydrogeological risk management and prevention practices in post-Unification Italy, taking Ferrara as a case study.

Andrea Rubin e Elena Macchioni hanno presentato a Roma, presso l’Università Roma Tre, i risultati del progetto SCARER nell’ambito dell’VIII Convegno della Società Scientifica Italiana Sociologia, Cultura, Comunicazione (SISCC).

Un’importante occasione di confronto con ricercatrici e ricercatori provenienti da università di tutta Italia sui temi della sociologia e della comunicazione del rischio, in un contesto sempre più segnato dagli effetti dei disastri naturali.

Andrea Rubin and Elena Macchioni presented the results of the SCARER project at the VIII Conference of the Italian Scientific Society of Sociology, Culture and Communication (SISCC), hosted by Università degli Studi Roma Tre, in Rome.

The conference provided a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas with scholars from universities across Italy on sociology and risk communication in a country increasingly affected by natural disasters.

🎮 This computer game is helping children understand climate risks – and what can be done to manage them.

🌊 The new CoastCraft world in Minecraft Education is teaching students about coastal erosion, flood resilience and climate adaptation using hands-on learning through play.

Set in a seaside town in Cornwall, UK, the game challenges players to protect the coast from rising sea levels and extreme weather, making tough choices about infrastructure, budgets, and nature-based solutions.

🏖️ Developed by the UK Environment Agency and Cornwall Council as part of a flood and coastal erosion innovation programme, CoastCraft goes beyond abstract scientific models – it lets players experience the real trade-offs of climate adaptation.

💡 By fast-forwarding to 2040 or 2060, students can see the long-term effects of their decisions – a powerful way to connect the dots between today’s choices and tomorrow’s risks.

Elsewhere, teachers are already using similar games – such as UNDRR's Stop Disasters! – to help children learn how to survive floods, earthquakes and tsunamis.

📚 Disaster risk education at a young age empowers future generations to understand risk, make informed choices, and build resilience long before crisis strikes.

La proposta dei ricercatori SCARER dal titolo: “Crisi climatica e rischio alluvionale. Costruire infrastrutture comunicative per la resilienza territoriale” è stata accettata al VIII Convegno SISCC [Società Scientifica Italiana di Sociologia, Cultura, Comunicazione] "Crash! Ripensare l’umanità tra narrazioni e conflitti", che si terrà presso l’ Università Roma Tre(17–19 giugno 2026).

Il contributo affronta il tema della comunicazione del rischio in relazione alle trasformazioni climatiche, con particolare attenzione al ruolo delle infrastrutture comunicative nel rafforzare la resilienza dei territori e delle comunità.

The proposal by SCARER researchers titled CRASH!: “Climate Crisis and Flood Risk: Building Communication Infrastructures for Territorial Resilience” has been accepted for the 8th SISCC Conference, Crash! Rethinking Humanity Between Narratives and Conflicts, to be held at Roma Tre University (June 17–19, 2026).

The paper addresses the topic of risk communication in relation to climate change, with a particular focus on the role of communication infrastructures in strengthening the resilience of territories and communities.
