Last Monday we celebrated the incredible work of Lauren Brincat, our 2026 Artist in Residence, marking the conclusion of her three month residency with our annual Visual Residency Night. 🎨🖌️
Lauren’s residency project explored fabric as a medium of memory, resistance and transformation. While textiles have long been present in her practice, this residency marked a deeper engagement with the material and its histories.
Working in Prato allowed her to connect with the labour and migration stories embedded in the city’s textile industry. During her time in Prato, Lauren collaborated with local textile businesses, including O.B. Stock, and creative laboratories such as Lottozero, engaging with the people, materials and processes that shape the city’s textile heritage.
Through Prato’s textile traditions, local collaborations, and personal histories of migration and labour, Textile Acts, Lauren's new body of work undertaken here in Prato, unfolds as a site-responsive exploration of how cloth can carry memory, movement and meaning across generations and geographies.
