Institutional meeting with Luigi Di Maio, EU Special Representative for the Gulf region.

We presented the European University Festival and discussed its international development, with a focus on dialogue between Europe and the Gulf region in higher education, climate action, innovation and youth engagement.

We thank Mr Di Maio and his Office for this constructive exchange.

We look forward to building on this dialogue in the coming weeks.

Dr. Flavia Fabiano joins the Scientific Committee of the European University Festival

Dr. Flavia Fabiano is a researcher at the Centre de coopération internationale en recherche agronomique pour le développement (CIRAD), one of the world’s leading international research organizations dedicated to sustainable agriculture, food systems, and territorial development.

Her research focuses on the governance of international agri-food markets and value chains, with particular attention to institutional innovations that support food security and the transition toward sustainable and inclusive food systems.

As a member of the Scientific Committee of the European University Festival, she joins the Food Systems working group, contributing to the scientific direction of activities focused on sustainable agriculture, food security, and innovation in agri-food systems. She also contributes to defining the selection criteria for university projects in these strategic fields, helping promote solutions for the future of our societies and our planet.

We are honoured to announce that the Dicastery for Culture and Education of the Holy See has expressed a positive opinion regarding the granting of its patronage to the European University Festival.

This represents an important institutional recognition for our European project, already supported by the Italian National Commission for UNESCO and held under the High Patronage of the European Parliament.

The European University Festival will officially launch its permanent platform on 21 May 2026 in Turin, while the international final event will take place in May 2027, bringing together universities, institutions, young people, scientific research, culture and innovation from across Europe.

We sincerely thank Cardinal José Tolentino de Mendonça and the Dicastery for Culture and Education for the attention and support dedicated to our initiative.

Our mission remains clear: to build a permanent European platform capable of connecting the academic world with the major challenges of the future.

Starting on 21 May 2026, the European University Festival will officially launch the European call addressed to universities, academies, research institutions and higher education networks across Europe.

Participants will have six months to submit projects and proposals dedicated to:

🌍 Climate Action
🔬 Scientific Innovation
🎨 Art & Communication
🍃 Sustainability and Environmental Transition

The most innovative projects will be selected by the Scientific Committee, and 24 finalist universities and institutions will be invited to Turin for the final phase of the European University Festival.

The Festival aims to create a permanent European platform capable of transforming academic research into concrete impact through collaboration between universities, institutions, industry and civil society.

Gen Z is not giving up on driving.
It is redefining mobility.

According to Deloitte (2025), an increasing number of young people are delaying or avoiding obtaining a driver’s license.

This is not only an economic shift.
It reflects a deeper transformation in how freedom and mobility are perceived.
