2月18日（火曜）、オンラインで「The 9th Panel on GIGAKU Education」を開催しました。本会議のコアメンバーが申請した「技学SDGネットワーク（GIGAKU SDG Network）」が令和5年2月20日に「The UNITWIN Network for Engineering Education towards Sustainable Pathways」としてユニツインネットワークに認定されてから２回目の年次会合となります。

本学を含めた10機関の技学SDGネットワークメンバー及び企業の他に、本学の国際産学連携を促進する技学テクノパークネットワークの現地コーディネーター、そしてユネスコの工学プログラムスペシャリストであるロバニ・シガモニー氏をアドバイザーとしてお迎えしました。

当日は高橋国際連携担当副学長がファシリテーターを務め、鎌土学長及び各メンバーの挨拶に続き、ネットワークの活動内容の再確認や各機関での活動に関する情報の共有が行われました。また、昨年から作成を開始した「技術者倫理に関するテキスト」の内容をより充実させるため、ネットワークメンバーに対して技術者倫理に関する事例等の追加提供が依頼されました。

最後に、ロバニ・シガモニー氏から、ユネスコの取組やユニツインネットワークに求められること、そして技学SDGネットワークへのコメントがありました。

今後も、工学教育の基本理念を共有する技学SDGネットワークメンバーと共に、SDGs課題解決と実践的工学教育を柱とする技学教育の質の保証と、技学教育の世界展開を推進して参ります。

産学官金共催によるSDGs講演会を開催しました

12月12日（木曜）、「SDGs講演会」を産学官金の各機関との共催により、ハイブリッド形式で開催しました。

今回の講演会では清水尚憲氏（独立行政法人労働者健康安全機構　労働安全衛生総合研究所）や平野吉彦氏（株式会社キタック　取締役副社長）をお招きし、本学の三好孝典教授、北條理恵子　准教授の4名により、「ISO視点で探るSDGsの未来―国際基準で考える持続可能な社会―」をテーマにご講演いただきました。講演では、ISO規格に関する概要や基礎知識についてのご説明の後、機械安全の観点から見たISO規格の実例や企業での取組事例を紹介していただき、企業や地域の皆様とともに、ISO視点から持続可能な社会の実現に向けた取組を確認することができました。

参加者からは「ISOの取組がSDGsに繋がるという観点が面白く感じた」「個人的に知識が乏しかったISOの概要を知ることができた」「具体的に事例が挙がっており、良かった」など、好意的な反響をいただきました。また、今後講演会を開催する上での貴重なご意見もいただくことができました。

当日は、現地及びオンライン参加者を合わせて60名余りの方々にご参加いただき、大盛況のうちに終えることができました。

今後もUNAI（国連アカデミック・インパクト）SDG9の世界ハブ大学として、長岡市民をはじめとした多くの皆様へ広くSDGsを普及し、SDGs達成に資する活動、及び社会に貢献できるイノベーションを興す研究・技術開発・教育を行ってまいります。

学生SDGsプロモーターと長岡崇徳大の学生との交流会「SDGs × English - NUT×NSU」を開催しました

12月2日（月曜）、長岡崇徳大学において、SDGsのゴール3（すべての人に健康と福祉を）をテーマとした交流会「SDGs × English - NUT×NSU」を開催し、本学の学生SDGsプロモーター7名と長岡崇徳大学看護学部2年生約40名が参加しました。本交流会は、本学の藤井数馬准教授と長岡崇徳大学の川崎眞理子教授の共同企画により実現しました。

交流会の冒頭では、スリランカ、バングラデシュ、中国からの本学の大学院留学生が自己紹介を行い、各国で直面しているSDG3に関する課題をテーマにしたプレゼンテーションを行いました。留学生たちは、自国の現状や課題をわかりやすく説明し、問題提起を行いました。

続いて、長岡崇徳大学の学生たちは、スリランカ、バングラデシュ、中国の3つのグループに分かれ、それぞれの課題を理解し、解決策や具体的な行動案を協働で考えるグループディスカッションを実施しました。その後、各グループの代表者が解決案を発表し、活発な意見交換が行われました。

本学留学生との初めての英語による交流会となりましたが、参加者全員が積極的にコミュニケーションを取り合い、お互いの考えを共有する姿勢が見られました。異なる学部、国籍、学年が交わる貴重な機会となり、多様な視点を通じてSDGsの課題に向き合う大切さを実感する場となりました。

今後も工学部と看護学部の枠を超えた連携を深め、国際的かつ学際的な交流を継続してまいります。

ユネスコウィーク（UNESCO WEEK 2024／25）のユースフォーラムに参加しました

12月1日（日曜）、国立オリンピック記念青少年総合センター国際交流棟で開催された、第3回ユネスコウィークのユースフォーラムに参加いたしました。次世代ユネスコ国内委員会委員の技学イノベーション専攻3年生のAlejandro Isidro Martinez Sanchez氏と物質生物工学分野修士1年生の五十嵐薫氏をはじめ、学生SDGsプロモーター合計5名がユースフォーラム内で行われた分科会の運営に協力しました。

ユースフォーラム内のネットワーキング交流会（ポスター展示）では、学生SDGsプロモーターの活動紹介に加え、本学のボランティア同好会「VOLT of NUTS」の活動も紹介されました。ユースフォーラムの分科会やワークショップでは、持続可能で包摂的な未来の創造へ向けて、生徒、学生、教職員を含む幅広い世代が集い、それぞれのアイデアや取組に対する情熱を語り合い、活発な意見交換が行われました。本学の学生たちも、積極的に議論に参加し、自身の視点や考えを発信することで、フォーラム全体を盛り上げる重要な役割を果たしました。

本学は、ユネスコチェアとユニツインネットワークの2つのプログラムを持つ大学として、今後もユネスコの活動を積極的にサポートしてまいります。

学生SDGsプロモーターと児童によるSDGs交流イベントを実施しました

11月18日（月曜）、長岡市深沢小学校の3・4年生6名と本学の学生SDGsプロモーターによる交流イベントを実施しました。このイベントは、深沢小学校からの希望により実現したものであり、「深沢地域を住み続けられるまちにするためにできること」というテーマのもとで児童と学生SDGsプロモーターが一緒に活動しました。

本学の勝身特任講師による本学のUNAI SDGsハブ大学としての取組紹介に続き、児童が深沢小学校の紹介や深沢地域ついての魅力と課題について発表しました。その後、参加者が３グループに分かれ、各グループにおいて児童の司会のもとでテーマに沿った意見を出し合いました。最後に各グループから話し合いのまとめが発表され、お互いの考えを共有しました。

その後、参加者はてくみゅ（テクノミュージアム）へ移動し、学生SDGsプロモーターからの説明を受けながら、長岡技大の研究成果や展示を見学しました。児童は第１食堂での学食や売店の利用も体験し、大学生と同じように福利棟の施設を利用できることを楽しんでいる様子が伺えました。

本交流イベントには児童の保護者からもご参加いただいており、今後も地域の皆様との交流を通じたSDGs普及・啓発活動を続けるとともに、子どもたちへ持続可能な社会を未来へつなぐ担い手となるための学びにつながる環境を提供し、社会課題の解決に貢献できる人材の育成に努めてまいります。

9th STI-Gigaku 2024 was held

On November 7 (Thursday) and 8 (Friday), Nagaoka University of Technology (NUT) held the 9th International Conference on “Science of Technology Innovation” 2024 (9th STI-Gigaku 2024).

STI-Gigaku is an international conference mainly organized by our students, with the purpose of promoting efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The conference is dedicated to bringing together all its respective parties—NUT, KOSEN (National Institute of Technology/College of Technology), universities in Japan and overseas, and companies/research institutes—to provide opportunities to facilitate the discussion of issues and solutions on global topics by sharing progress and achievements in education and research collaboration.

The 9th STI-Gigaku 2024 was held in Aore Nagaoka as the main venue and at the NUT. Over the two days, almost 390 people from universities in Japan and overseas, KOSEN, companies, and other organizations attended the event and adding momentum to efforts to achieve the SDGs.

In the research presentations, activities leading to solutions for the SDGs and results of joint research between KOSEN and NUT were presented in English specifying the target SDGs and lively discussions and exchanges were made. In addition, the event provided opportunities for KOSEN students to experience the atmosphere of research presentations at an international conference. Ten outstanding presentations were awarded the “Best Research Presentation Award by Sumitomo Riko Company Limited,” and 11 presentations received the “Best Research Presentation Award.”

This year was the first time in four years that this conference was held only on-site, it was a great success owing to the efforts of the companies that sponsored or supported the event, and all of those who participated or lent their support on the day. We would like to thank you for your kind support.

We will continue to hold the International Conference, and will work together across disciplinary boundaries to promote efforts to achieve the SDGs with various related organizations.

国際会議「9th STI-Gigaku 2024」を開催しました

11月７日（木曜）、8日（金曜）に国際会議「9th STI-Gigaku 2024」を開催しました。

STI-Gigakuは、持続可能な開発目標（SDGs）の達成に向け、本学や国内外の大学、高専、企業・研究機関等が連携して実施した教育研究成果を発信・共有し、グローバルな社会課題を解決する方法について議論することを目的に、本学学生が中心となって企画・運営する国際会議です。

9回目の開催となった「9th STI-Gigaku 2024」は、市民交流の拠点であるアオーレ長岡と長岡技術科学大学を会場とし、開催しました。2日間で国内外の大学、高専、企業等から約390名の方々にご参加いただき、SDGs達成に向けた機運を高めることができました。

リサーチプレゼンテーションでは、SDGsの解決につながる活動や高専－長岡技科大共同研究の成果がターゲットとするSDGsを示して英語で発表され、活発な意見交換や交流が行われたほか、高専生に国際会議での研究発表の雰囲気に触れる機会を提供することができました。優秀発表に対しては10件の「住友理工賞（Best Research Presentation Award by Sumitomo Riko Company Limited）」と11件の「優秀発表賞（Best Research Presentation Award）」が贈られました。

今年は4年ぶりの現地のみでの開催となりましたが、ご協賛・ご協力いただいた企業の皆様や、本会議にご支援・ご参加いただいた皆様のお力添えにより、大盛況の内に閉幕することができましたことを深く御礼申し上げます。

本学は今後も本国際会議を継続して開催し、分野の垣根を越えた各関係機関との連携によりSDGs達成に向けた取組を推進してまいります。

Student SDGs Promoters Exhibit SDGs Booth at “Eco Action in Mitsuke 2024”

At “Eco Action in Mitsuke 2024” held on Sunday, August 4th at Navel Mitsuke in Mitsuke City, The Student SDGs Promoters from Nagaoka University Technology (NUT) exhibited an SDGs educational materials and games booth as part of their activities to promote and raise awareness of SDGs among the local community.

On the day in question, many visitors stopped by our university’s booth and were able to learn about SDGs while entertaining themselves through board games (SDGs Carom and SDGs Activity game), SDGs (20-sided) Dice-making, SDGs Coloring and SDGs Pinwheels with the Student SDGs Promoters.

Children were also seen taking the SDGs quiz, and the sight of them deepening their understanding of SDGs as they enjoyed themselves really left an impression. It was also a meaningful time for the promoters, who are encouraging endeavors towards achieving SDGs.

We will continue to organize SDGs-related events and seminars, and endeavor to promote and raise awareness of SDGs outside our university through our own original SDGs activities.

学生SDGsプロモーターが「エコアクションinみつけ2024」にSDGsブースを出展しました

8月４日（日曜）に見附市のネーブルみつけで開催された「エコアクションinみつけ2024」において、本学の学生SDGsプロモーターが地域の方へのSDGs普及・啓発を目指した活動の一環として、SDGs教育教材・ゲームのブースを出展しました。

当日は多くの方々に本学のブースにお立ち寄りいただき、学生SDGsプロモーターとのボードゲーム（SDGsカロムやSDGs活動ゲーム）、SDGsダイス（20面体）づくり、SDGsぬり絵、SDGs風車を通じて、楽しみながらSDGsについて学んでいただくことができました。

SDGsクイズに挑戦する子どもたちの姿も見られ、楽しみながらSDGsに対する理解を深めている様子が印象的でした。SDGs達成に向けた取組を推進するプロモーターたちにとっても有意義な時間となりました。

今後も本学はSDGs関連のイベントやセミナーを企画し、本学独自のSDGs活動を通じて、学外へのSDGs普及・啓発に努めてまいります。

“p4c (philosophy for children) on the SDGs” event held with Student SDGs Promoters and children

On Wednesday, June 12, an exchange event was held with twelve six-grade from Akadomari Elementary School in Sado City and student SDGs Promoters from our university. This event was organized after the children at Akadomari Elementary School expressed the desire to visit Nagaoka University of Technology, which promotes the SDGs, and to have a conversation with our university students about the environment during their own research on the SDGs.

After trying a university cafeteria meal at Cafeteria 1, the children participated in a p4c (philosophy for children) session on the SDGs. Following a greeting by Prof. Matsubara (Director, Liaison Office for Secondary Schools, Elementary and Junior High School Support WG), the children introduced Akadomari in Japanese and English and participated in a p4c session according to the rules. The theme of the session was: “What SDGs do you most want to achieve?” Mr. Alejandro Isidro Martinez Sanchez, a third-year student in the Department of Science of Technology Innovation, acted as an interpreter while our university students and children explained why they thought certain goals were important and assessed each other's understanding.

Next, after learning about Goal 12 (ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns), which Japan has not yet achieved, and about the large amount of e-waste, participants tried their hand at upcycling by creating accessories using broken electrical products that would otherwise be thrown away.

Finally, the group visited the Techno Museum, where Mr. Kaito Suzuki, an advanced course student and second-year master's student in the Mechanical Engineering, explained the exhibits and Nagaoka University of Technology's research findings.

Comments from the children included: “University is awesome!” “I had fun!” and “I want to see more, I don't want to leave!” We were glad that the event contributed to make some of the children's dreams come true.

Going forward, we will continue to provide an environment that will spark children's interest and contribute to future learning, while striving to lay the foundation to foster future engineers and scientists, by communicating the wonder and fascination of engineering and science through activities to promote and raise awareness of the SDGs.

“Beach Cleanup × Learning” event held with Student SDGs Promoters

On Saturday, June 8, a “Beach Cleanup x Learning” event was held at Gomoto Beach in Nagaoka City as part of our activities to promote and raise awareness of the SDGs among the general public.

This was the fourth cleanup event held by our university in cooperation with Teradomari Youth Group ~Hane~. The idea behind the event was to learn about the ocean, science, and engineering while cleaning the beach. In addition to participants from the University, mainly student SDGs Promoters, the event was attended by people from the National Institute of Technology, Nagaoka College and local residents. Participation was high, with about 40 people in attendance.

On the day of the event, following an explanation of the work to be done provided by Mr. Kimura, a representative of Hane, the participants picked up trash on the beach, separating it according to local trash disposal rules. In addition to plastic bottles and other plastic products, the participants also collected microplastics (pieces of plastic under 5mm in size that have broken down as a result of exposure to ultraviolet rays and waves).

After the beach cleanup, the participants learned about the ocean, science, engineering, and manufacturing through hands-on activities, such as an experiment demonstrating how to make iron from iron sand and an activity that involved creating accessories using microplastics. Creating accessories using microplastics is one of our university's initiatives to raise awareness of the importance of reducing and eliminating waste, and to provide participants with the opportunity to experience upcycling (i.e., converting waste into something more valuable than the original product). The participants looked on with great interest as iron was being produced and enjoyed learning about the SDGs while skillfully arranging microplastics of various colors and shapes to create accessories.

Going forward, we will continue to plan SDGs-related events and seminars and conduct activities to promote and raise awareness of the SDGs in cooperation with various organizations and local residents. We appreciate your continued understanding and support of our university's SDGs activities.
