Studying in Japan is an investment in your future.

Here are a few tips from our G30 student ambassador on how to navigate life as an international student, especially since living abroad alone has its own challenges.

Today, Caitlyn reflects on 3 years studying at Nagoya University and shares how her experiences have shaped her personally.

"1. Do it scared. Many times, we hold ourselves back from pursuing our goals due to self-doubt and the fear of failure. Having the courage to try is more important than waiting until we feel completely ready.

2. Go at your own pace. When we see others achieving milestones in life, we tend to feel like we are falling behind. Instead of comparing ourselves to others, we should appreciate how far we have already come.

3. Explore what life has to offer. Life can feel mundane, especially when we are bound by repetitive routines. By developing new skills, discovering new places, and taking on new opportunities, we can add more color to our lives while gaining new knowledge, experiences, and perspectives.”

We are back with our G30 ambassador Caitlyn! Today Caitlyn would like to teach you the Japanese word of the day in our series "1 min. Japanese".

Caitlyn's word choice is:
「挑戦」(chou sen) , which means challenge.

She chose this word because: "staying in our comfort zone for too long can limit our personal growth".

In Japanese, the word 挑戦 means “challenge,” and it encourages us to think outside the box and step outside our comfort zone. Although taking on challenges is never easy, those experiences help us learn more about ourselves and the world around us.

Also, we are pleased to welcome all students who are interested in learning about general admissions information for Nagoya University G30 International Programs to an informational webinar held on September 3rd at 14:00-15:00 (JST). Have you ever wondered what it's like to intern at a Japanese government organization as an international student?

Today, our G30 student ambassador Caitlyn is sharing her experience interning at the Nagoya Employment Service Center for Foreigners.

Here’s what Caitlyn says about her internship:
"As the foreign population in Japan continues to grow, so does the need for employment support services for foreign residents. Earlier this year, I interned at the Nagoya Employment Service Center for Foreigners, a branch of Hello Work, a public employment service operated by Japan's Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare (MHLW).
During my week-long internship, I gained insight into the employment service sector, as well as translated documents, created promotional materials, and assisted with front desk operations. I had the opportunity to observe the job-matching process in detail, wherein foreign job seekers described their skills, work experience, and ideal working conditions. Based on this information, the staff searched for suitable job openings and recommended positions that would suit the client. Interning at a Japanese government organization as an international student was definitely an interesting experience, and I hope to continue exploring opportunities where I can support international communities in Japan."
