We welcomed new first-year students and held a reception dinner on November 28th. More than 30 students including master and doctoral students and many faculty members attended the event. We had nice food and many good conversation.Thank you very much for your participation.

Every year, we present the Best Thesis Award to the student who has written the most outstanding master’s thesis. The selection is made by the PEPP faculty members after the final thesis presentations, following a thorough discussion of the strengths and weaknesses of each work.

This year, the award was given to Mr. Mikias Gebrekidan from the National Bank of Ethiopia. Using the synthetic control method, his thesis examined the economic impact of being landlocked, using Ethiopia as a natural experiment.

Congratulations, Mikias! Excellent work!

We are happy to announce that two PEPP alumni, who initially entered the Master's program and successfully completed it, have now finished their doctoral programs and obtained their Ph.D. degrees. The quality of their research was truly outstanding.

PEPP is delighted to introduce Professor Vuong as the newest member of our faculty team.

An expert in development economics and environmental economics, Professor Vuong’s research explores the impact of environmental damage on development processes. He also examines a range of developmental issues related to trade and the labor market.

His work has been featured in leading journals such as the Journal of Development Economics and World Development.
Professor Vuong completed his Ph.D. at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2024. We are excited to welcome him to the PEPP faculty team.

PEPP study trip 2024
We had a great study trip from September 18-September 20th.
We visited Nagoya University, Nagoya Port and terminal, Toyota museum and Kyoto incluing one of the most famous spots(Kiyomizu temple). Our students learned the mix of modern economic system and tradition. Our students enjoyed a lot!

A joint-seiminar at Nagoya University.
On September 18th( the first day of our study trip), we had a joint-seminar with students of Nagoya University. Our selected students made excellent presentation. It is always exciting to know what other people study and exchange opions on many important economic and social issues. After the seminar, we had a small reception party!
