JOOUST and the Agripreneurship Alliance Advance Youth-Led Agribusiness Innovation
Students from School of Agricultural and Food Sciences at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology continue to benefit from agripreneurship training offered through the partnership with Agripreneurship Alliance, a Swiss-based non-profit organization dedicated to empowering young entrepreneurs in agriculture.The fourth cohort of students had the unique opportunity to pilot the Alliance’s new agripreneurship curriculum, culminating in innovative business idea pitch presentations during a workshop held from 11th–14th May 2026 at JOOUST main campus in Bondo. The best student business ideas will receive seed capital support to help transform their concepts into viable agribusiness ventures.The workshop was graced by the CEO of the Agripreneurship Alliance, Steven Carr, who also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University. The signing was witnessed by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Emily Akuno, the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic Student Affairs and Research), Prof. Elijah Ateka, and the Dean of the School of Agricultural and Food Sciences, Dr. Mary Orinda.The partnership marks another important step in strengthening innovation, entrepreneurship, and practical skills development among university students in the agricultural sector.
