Moi University has officially welcomed its 2026/2027 first-year students with the Ag. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kiplagat Kotut encouraging them to embrace university life with discipline, excellence and a spirit of service. During the orientation, he urged students to make the most of academic, research, innovation and leadership opportunities while carrying the SUCCESS Toolkit—Self-discipline, Understanding, Character, Competence, Engagement, Support and Service—throughout their journey.

Moi University hosted the 3rd International Conference on Technological Advancement in Embedded and Mobile Systems (ICTA-EMOS 2026), alongside the Sino-Africa International Symposium on Textiles and Apparel (SAISTA) and the Sino-Africa Cultural Exchange Forum (SACEF).

Themed “Digital Futures: Applied AI and Electronics for Sustainable Development,” the event brought together researchers, academics, industry leaders and students from Africa, Europe and Asia.

Officially opening the conference, Eng. John Tanui, Principal Secretary, State Department for ICT and Digital Economy, underscored the importance of technology and digital innovation in Africa’s transformation.

Prof. Kiplagat Kotut, Ag. Vice-Chancellor, Moi University, challenged African institutions to move beyond consuming technologies developed elsewhere and become developers, adapters and owners of solutions that respond to African realities.

The conference showcased research and innovation in AI, cybersecurity, health systems, agriculture, IoT, digital twins, responsible AI and AI governance, among other fields.

With 32 ICTA-EMOS papers, international research engagements and visits to Moi University facilities, the event strengthened opportunities for collaboration, knowledge exchange and impactful innovation.
