The Ajira digital program, an initiative by the Government of Kenya driven by the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy (MoICDE) empowers over 1 million young Kenyans annually with digital and digitally enabled skills to enable to earn a decent living through freelancing opportunities.

The goal of the program is to position Kenya as a leading labour destination and a Business Process Outsourcing Hub for multinational companies, while encouraging local companies and the public sector to create digital work.

The TVET sector Through Jitume labs makes it possible to see this through.

Today at Jeremiah Nyagah National Polytechnic, Ajira training commenced targeting over 300 youth present to get skills to enable them earn a decent living through the digital space.

Jeremiah Nyagah National Polytechnic is truly the place to be.

Electrical engineering is a broad and dynamic field that involves the study and application of electricity, electronics, and electromagnetism.

Key skills acquired by trainees pursuing Electrical Engineering at Jeremiah Nyagah National Polytechnic include;

✅Power systems: Power systems are those that are used to generate, transmit, and distribute electrical power. Trainees learn to design, analyze, and manage power systems.

✅Electronics: The creation and use of electronic circuits and devices for a range of technological applications.

✅Control Systems: Creating machines and processes with dynamic management and control.

✅Telecommunications-Information transfer over a variety of media and communication networks is known as telecommunications.

✅Signal processing-This is the analysis and manipulation of signals to enhance their quality or extract information that is useful.

✅Instrumentation-This refers to the creation and application of tools for measuring, tracking, and managing physical quantities.

Innovative projects involving robotics, consumer electronics, renewable energy, and other topics are frequently undertaken by electrical engineers. They employ physics concepts.

💥Jeremiah Nyagah National Polytechnic is at the forefront in the field of robotics, pioneering in developing a working robot that was featured at the Mt Kenya East Job fair.
💥The robot is famously known as ‘Octopus’, an innovation of ICT and Engineering.
💥It can be used in the vehicle manufacturing industry in automation of the manufacturing process.

✅Additionally, at JNNP, we are also at the forefront of providing alternative solutions for energy. We train in solar photovoltaic. Electricity from solar cells has become cost competitive in many regions and photovoltaic systems are being deployed at large scales to help power the electric grid. Thus, trainees become accustomed to new age needs in the energy sector.

Technical Vocational Education and Training this week celebrates 100 years since inception of TVETs in Kenya.

A caravan containing the TVET at 100 Torch and Flame has been passing through TVET facilities all throughout the nation as part of festivities that will come to a national gathering on July 31, 2024, at the Kabete National Technical Polytechnic.

The celebrations, which began on 29th July 2024, include a skills competition, TVET institution exhibitions, an industry/labor market, speeches, paper presentations, and the opening of the Centenary Building, among other events.

✴️Having scooped position 1 in the recently completed Research fair and exhibitions held in Nakuru, in the Fashion and Design department, Jeremiah Nyagah National Polytechnic is well represented by our very own Madam Irene Mwangi and her team.

✴️Madam Irene with her student’s innovation, dubbed, Fashion Plastic Combo are currently on ground exhibiting their products at the celebration.

✴️Additionally, in accordance with the RPL Policy, which aims to recognize individuals who possess skills and abilities from informal and non-formal settings, the State began evaluating tailors, hairdressers, automotive engineers, and welders. JNNP is a leader in the area, providing RPL for those workers who are skilled but do not have certification.
