Umma University Umma University is the First Islamic Chartered University in Kenya located in Kajiado along Nairobi-Namanga Highway.

Umma University is the first institution of higher learning in Kenya based on Islamic values. The University is established to address the need of Kenyans for quality education and this will be achieved through offering Islamic Studies and Sharia, besides other programmes. The precursor of the university, Thika College for Sharia and Islamic Studies started in 1997. In 2007, the then Commission fo

r Higher Education (CHE) granted the college authority to collaborate with the International University of Africa, Khartoum, Sudan to offer the two degree programmes mentioned above. The University is currently based in Thika but in the process of relocating to an ultra modern main Campus in Kajiado which is at an advanced stage of completion of Phase One.

Earlier today, Umma University had the honor of hosting a delegation from international University of Africa . The visit, led by Umma University Vice Chancellor Dr. Halima Saado Abdillahi, focused on exploring opportunities for collaboration in strengthening and promoting the Arabic language.

The engagement provided a valuable platform for academic cooperation and knowledge exchange. Following the discussions, the delegation toured the university's facilities and interacted with students, gaining insight into Umma University's vibrant learning environment.

Today, we were honored to mark World Environment Day alongside our partners, Sky Rockers and the Kenya Forestry Service (Kajiado County).

The day featured insightful discussions on environmental conservation, an awareness session with students and staff, and a mass tree-planting exercise as we reaffirmed our commitment to building a greener and more sustainable future.
