FUNCTION OF THE KIDNEY.
John believed that whenever he drank water or ate food, his kidneys converted the waste into urine.
He thought that the kidneys' only function was the excretion of waste products in the form of urine, unaware of the other vital roles they play in the body.
Most people believe that their kidneys are solely responsible for producing urine, but there's much more to their functions. In addition to removing excess fluids and water from the body, kidneys:
🎯Filter the blood.
🎯Balance fluid content in the body.
🎯Produce the enzyme renin to help regulate blood pressure.
🎯Produce the hormone erythropoietin to stimulate red blood cell production.
🎯Activate vitamin D to maintain bone health.
🎯Adjust mineral and chemical levels to ensure proper body function.
In conclusion, we should understand that the kidneys play various roles in the body, not only the excretion of waste products.
Let's take care of our kidneys diligently to avoid kidney failure, which can result in the inability to perform their essential functions.
Next time, we will explore more on how does kidney carry out it's duties in our body.
