At Kisii University, visionary leadership continues to shape a future anchored on innovation, relevance, and transformative scholarship. Under the stewardship of the Vice Chancellor, the University is championing bold initiatives that not only enrich its mandate but position Kisii University at the forefront of academic excellence and research-driven impact. A key milestone is the ongoing review and development of Masters and PhD curricula aligned to the HERI Africa Priority Areas, a strategic response to critical research gaps in foundational literacy across the continent. This timely initiative reflects the University’s unwavering commitment to producing knowledge that addresses real societal needs and advances Africa’s development agenda.
The review process is receiving technical guidance from distinguished scholars and subject matter experts: Prof. Peter Barasa, VC, Alupe University, and Prof. Caroline Omulando, DVC (AA), the Open University of Kenya. Their expertise continues to enrich this transformative academic undertaking. Kisii University remains steadfast in embracing creative and forward-looking initiatives that propel the institution to greater heights of inclusivity, innovation, and borderless education.

The DVC ARSA, hosted guests from the African Technology Policy Studies Network (ATPS) during a high-level review and evaluation visit for the transformative project on the “Application of Multilingual AI Technology for Improving Food Safety, Supply Chain Monitoring and Reduction of Post-Harvest Losses in Kenya.” Led by Dr. Cynthia Mwau (PI) and Dr. Vincent Bulinda (Co-PI) from the School of Pure and Applied Sciences, the project is harnessing inclusive and responsible AI to empower smallholder farmers with tools to assess produce quality, access market information, and connect to transport services in their own languages. The initiative reflects the University’s commitment to research that creates lasting impact and ensures that women farmers, the elderly, and persons with disabilities are not left behind in Kenya’s agricultural transformation.

Through intentional staff trainings and empowerment programs, the University remains committed to nurturing excellence, strengthening customer relations, and building a culture of service rooted in humanity.
Concluding the last day of our staff training, we do so with renewed hope and confidence in the future ahead.
