The Kisumu National Polytechnic, led by Deputy Registrar Jane Pauline, in partnership with the STEM Education Empowerment Project (STEEP), recently conducted a STEM mentorship program at St. Augustine RC Secondary School Kandege in Muhoroni.

The initiative aimed at nurturing interest and skills in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics among students, while also exposing them to various career pathways within STEM fields.

Speaking during the session, Ms. Pauline underscored the institution’s commitment to fostering a culture of innovation and academic excellence among young learners, particularly in rural areas.

The mentorship program featured interactive talks, practical demonstrations, and motivational sessions designed to inspire students to embrace STEM subjects and pursue them confidently.

School administrators expressed their gratitude to Kisumu National Polytechnic and STEEP for choosing St. Augustine RC Secondary School as a beneficiary of this transformative engagement.

The event concluded with a pledge from both partners to continue supporting similar outreach programs across the county, with the goal of preparing more students for future opportunities in STEM.

The 2024 inter-institution transfer application is now open.

Applicants placed in universities and colleges last month (May 2024) who wish to change institutions should apply via http://students.kuccps.net.

The process also allows change of courses subject to applicants meeting applicable cut-off points.

The deadline is July 4, 2024.

Germany has finally done it!

Starting today, June 1st 2024, anyone can move to Germany without Job offer or university Admission Offer. If someone doesn't have a job, they will be permitted to go to Germany but will be given a year to find employment. This is being done through what they are calling The Opportunity Card.

The Opportunity Card is a residence permit that allows workers from third world countries to enter Germany in order to seek employment. It can also be used to acquire foreign professional qualifications in Germany.

A points system is used to determine whether one is eligible for the Opportunity Card based on their qualifications, knowledge and circumstances. A minimum score of six points is required for this.

If you have a recognized vocational qualification and are residing in Germany, you can apply for the Opportunity Card as a recognised skilled worker without having to achieve a minimum number of points. In both cases (for those outside Germany and those already in Germany), you must also fulfil the basic requirements listed below.

Requirements:

1. Have a vocational qualification or university degree.

2. When applying, you will need proof that your professional qualification is recognised by the state either in Germany or in the country in which it was obtained.
