Mount Kenya University and it's affiliate TVET - Equip Africa Institute, marked World Oral Health Day 2026 with a impactful free dental outreach in Kapenguria, West Pokot County 🦷.

Over 2,000 community members benefited from dental check-ups, oral health education, and donations of toothbrushes and toothpaste to support better oral hygiene.

Speaking during the event, leaders commended the alumni-led initiative for promoting preventive healthcare and expanding access to essential services in underserved communities.

This outreach highlights MKU’s continued commitment to community wellbeing and training health professionals who make a real difference.

RAMADHAN MESSAGE:
The sacred month of Ramadan is about to begin, bringing with it a sense of devotion, togetherness, and spiritual renewal for Muslims across the globe. As the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar.

Ramadan holds deep significance in Islam and is one of its five fundamental pillars, alongside Shahada (faith), Salat (prayer), Zakat (charity), Sawm (fasting), and Hajj (pilgrimage). During this holy period, Muslims observe fasts from dawn (suhoor) until sunset (iftar), refraining from eating, drinking, or consuming water throughout the day.
Beyond fasting, the month emphasises spiritual growth through increased prayers, recitation of the Quran, acts of charity, and practicing self-restraint.

The Kitale ODeL Centre is pleased to associate with this meaningful event, which promotes physical fitness, environmental conservation, and community engagement, in line with the university’s commitment to holistic development and community impact.

The 21-kilometre race is becoming a key feature in the local mountain and trail running series.
