Closing the week on an insightful note, our Communication and Media students, migori county bloggers, content creators and journalists participated in an engaging digital media workshop on 30th April 2026, organized by the Bloggers Association of Kenya(BAKE) in collaboration with Kenya ICT Action Network (KICTANet,) focusing on the evolving digital space and the increasingly influential role of content creators in shaping online discourse.
The guests were received by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Finance and Planning, Prof. Daniel Tarus, accompanied by the Head of Department, Communication and Media, Dr. Millicent Otieno. Prof Tarus emphasized on the university’s continued commitment to creating meaningful industry linkages and enriching student learning experiences.
The interactive discussions on digital rights, monetization, modern content creation, cyber hygiene, and the future of online media offered students practical insights into the realities of today’s communication landscape. The session highlighted the powerful intersection between media, technology, and ethics in a rapidly changing digital world.
