KSUC CHAMPIONS ORGANIC FARMING FOR A HEALTHIER AND SUSTAINABLE FUTURE

As cases of cancer and other lifestyle-related diseases continue to rise globally, the need for safe and nutritious food has never been more important. Koitaleel Samoei University is playing its part by promoting organic agriculture through the Bio-Kenya Project.

The university recently participated in a field day at Achego Greenhouse alongside Bio-Kenya and other stakeholders, showcasing sustainable farming practices such as the use of biochar and insect-composted organic fertilizers. Visitors witnessed healthy crops, including maize and sukuma wiki, demonstrating the benefits of organic farming in improving soil health, crop productivity, and food quality.

Supported by the French Embassy in Kenya, the Bio-Kenya Project is empowering farmers and communities with practical knowledge that promotes environmental conservation, biodiversity, and healthier living.

KSUC CONTRACTOR AWARDS BURSARIES to SUPPORT EDUCATION IN NANDI HILLS

A remarkable act of generosity and community empowerment was witnessed today at Samoei Nursery School as KSUC Main Campus contractor, Tu-ing (Chebaibai), who is also the Director of Oriole Homes, awarded bursaries to 62 students from the Nandi Hills community drawn from various schools.

Each beneficiary received KSh 7,500, bringing the total bursary support to KSh 465,000. In addition, she donated 400 books to Samoei Nursery School and 200 books to Samoei Senior School, further strengthening access to quality education.

The event was attended by the Chairman of Council, the Principal, Deputy Principal, Registrar Administration, local leaders, university staff, community members, and learners, who lauded the initiative as a transformative investment in the future of the region’s children.

The community expressed gratitude for the support and commended Koitaleel Samoei University College for fostering partnerships that continue to uplift and empower society through education.

KSUC MARKS WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY WITH 10,000 TREE SEEDLINGS DONATION AND PLANTING INITIATIVE AT KIMONDI FOREST

As the world commemorated World Environment Day, Koitaleel Samoei University College (KSUC) reaffirmed its commitment to environmental conservation, community engagement, and corporate social responsibility through a major tree-planting initiative at Kimondi Forest.

In partnership with the Kenya Forest Service, the university donated and planted over 10,000 croton seedlings, bringing together staff, environmental stakeholders, and community partners in a collective effort to restore and protect vital forest ecosystems.

The exercise supports the Government of Kenya’s target of planting 15 billion trees as part of national efforts to combat climate change, enhance biodiversity, and promote sustainable development.

At KSUC, environmental stewardship extends beyond academic pursuits. Through active participation in conservation initiatives and community-centered programs, the institution continues to contribute to a greener, healthier, and more sustainable future. Every tree planted reflects our dedication to preserving the environment while strengthening partnerships that promote responsible management of natural resources for future generations.

KSUC HOSTS HÄME UNIVERSITY OF APPLIED SCIENCES FOR COLLABORATIVE PARTNERSHIP TALKS

Koitaleel Samoei University College (KSUC) today hosted a delegation from HÄME University of Applied Sciences (HAMK), Finland, for discussions aimed at establishing a strategic collaboration between the two institutions.

The delegation was received by the Deputy Principal, Prof. Jepkemboi Choge, who welcomed the visitors and introduced KSUC as a rapidly growing university college in Kenya, with Sports Science and Management identified as its niche area.

The Director of the School of Business, Dr. Loice Koskei, delivered a comprehensive presentation outlining the university’s history, mandate, academic programmes, partnerships, student population, and core values. The HAMK team also presented an overview of their institution, highlighting their strengths and areas of expertise.

During the discussions, the two institutions identified several potential areas of collaboration, including sports science, joint research, staff and student exchange programmes, and funding opportunities. Other key areas explored were women in sports, community business empowerment, branding, and academic development.

KSUC HOSTS KENYA KENYA METEOROLOGICAL DEPARTMENT FOR WEATHER STATION ASSESSMENT

Koitaleel Samoei University College today hosted experts from the Kenya Meteorological Department at the Mosoriot Campus to assess the establishment of a weather station at the institution.

The team was warmly received by the Deputy Principal, Prof. Jepkemboi Choge.

The proposed facility, earlier requested by the institution from the Meteorological Director, will strengthen learning, research, weather forecasting, and climate monitoring for both the university and the surrounding community.

The station is also expected to provide vital data for future weather and climate prediction models, advancing innovation, sustainability, and community resilience at KSUC.

KSUC STAFF EMPOWERED ON LIFESTYLE DISEASES PREVENTION

Koitaleel Samoei University College staff participated in an informative health and wellness session focused on lifestyle diseases, their causes, prevention, and healthy living practices.

The session was facilitated by Kepha Nyanumba, Consultant Nutritionist from Crystal Health Consultancy Ltd, who emphasized the importance of proper nutrition, regular exercise, and routine medical checkups in preventing lifestyle-related illnesses.

The event was officially opened by the Registrar Academic Affairs, CS John Ngigi, who applauded MUA, the KSUC staff medical insurance provider, for organising the impactful initiative.

Other service providers present included Aquadent Dental Clinic, Emerald Valley Medical Center and Radium Health Services, who offered consultations and health checkups.

Staff appreciated the valuable insights shared, with some forming a fitness club to promote healthier lifestyles.
