University Application Support Program - UASP

University Application Support Program - UASP We work to advance access to higher education for economically challenged students from Mathare, Nairobi.

The University Application Support Programme (UASP) works to make a contribution towards tackling educational inequalities, exclusion and discrimination against students from non-formal backgrounds by enabling young Bachelor students from Mathare to seek an excellent education from recognized international universities. Higher education has the potential to fundamentally shape people's lives and t

he communities they live in and is also essential for socio-economic and political participation. While there are a number of universities around the globe who provide scholarship opportunities, it is seldom the most disadvantaged or vulnerable students who benefit from these opportunities. An information gap exists, which prevents them from finding opportunities and mastering the application process.7

UASP seeks to address this information gap by linking potential applicants with mentors who will assist them in finding scholarship opportunities and coach them throughout the application process. On a one-to-one basis mentors are supporting young scholars from Mathare who have obtained their Bachelor's Degree in their search for scholarship opportunities and supervise them during the application process.
