Empowering Women Leaders: Workshop Successfully Completed! 🎉

We are delighted to celebrate another successful conclusion of our transformative 5-day workshop: Leadership & Governance for Women Community Leaders! Organized and facilitated by Africa Training Institute 🌍

While one group was deep into procurement last week, another room at
Africa Training Institute spent 10 full days mastering Budget Planning and Management under Programme-Based Budgeting (PBB).

Finance directors, and programme managers worked side-by-side, moving from theory to building actual programme budgets, linking costs to measurable outcomes, and setting up realistic monitoring frameworks.

We’re seeing more governments across East and Southern Africa shift to PBB, and the questions in the room were sharp: how do you protect priority programmes when revenues drop? How do you make mid-year reviews actually useful instead of just paperwork?

This was the second PBB workshop we’ve run in the last six weeks — demand is clearly growing. Grateful for the candid exchanges and practical tools everyone walked away with.

If your ministry or county is preparing for the next budget cycle under programme-based approaches, happy to share notes or connect you with colleagues who just went through it.

Another intensive 10-day workshop on Public Procurement and Contract Management just concluded at Africa Training Institute. We had a strong mix of public sector officials and private sector practitioners in the room, sharing real-world challenges and workable solutions.

This was the latest in our ongoing series of practical training sessions this quarter, running alongside important regional conversations like the recent 5th International Conference on Public Procurement Regulation in Africa and the African Public Procurement Network’s General Assembly. It’s good to see organizations such as the African Development Bank’s capacity-building programs all pushing in the same direction.

Strengthening Asset Management Skills for Public Service

The African Training Institute was honoured to host delegates from the public service for a 5‑day training program on Asset Management and Financial Analysis this week.

This intensive program equipped participants with practical tools to analyse financial data, strengthen decision‑making, and enhance transparency in public financial management.

We are proud to support regional governments in developing the skills needed to drive sustainable economic growth and accountability.

Empowering Development Practice Through Adaptive Thinking
Africa Training Institute recently facilitated a 5-day training for delegates from Enabel – the Belgian Development Agency, working in Mozambique.

Held at the Kenya School of Government, the sessions focused on proposal preparation using Logical Framework and Adaptive Approaches, equipping participants with practical tools for designing responsive and results-oriented development programmes.

Through hands-on exercises and peer learning, delegates strengthened their skills in results-based planning, theory of change, and adaptive design, with a strong emphasis on stakeholder engagement and real-world application.

We applaud the Enabel team for their dedication to continuous learning and thank the Kenya School of Government for hosting this impactful exchange.
