In May 2026 the United States claimed the title of the world's largest oil exporter for the third consecutive month, shipping 10.5 million barrels of crude and fuel per day. Russia exported 7 million barrels while Saudi Arabia exported 5.9 million. Just a year earlier in 2025 Saudi Arabia led with 8.1 million barrels per day compared to the US at only 6.6 million.

Since the US-Iran war began in February 2026, Saudi oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz were disrupted while Russian exports were battered by Ukrainian drone strikes and Western sanctions. American companies quickly filled the gap. Europe absorbed 47% of US oil exports so far in 2026, up from 37% in 2021.

A country that suffered an oil embargo in 1973 just became the world's top oil exporter. History does not always repeat. Sometimes it reverses completely.

The US government has reclassified state-licensed medical ma*****na and FDA-approved cannabis products from Schedule I to Schedule III, moving them out of the same category as he**in and alongside substances like ketamine and certain prescription medications.
The change brings tax relief and improved banking access for licensed medical cannabis businesses and makes it easier for researchers to study cannabis medically. A pilot program will explore Medicare coverage for non-psychoactive CBD treatments.
Cannabis remains federally illegal for recreational use and unlicensed distribution. But the most restrictive label is gone for good.

For over 2 years Chris Francisco hid 5 pesos at a time under his bed. The 32-year-old from the Philippines has autism and no steady job. With the 13,000 pesos he saved, roughly €180, he bought 160 boxes of crayons for children from low-income families who had none.
A teacher who received the donation called him a special child with a special heart. The story is from 2022 and is circulating again, reminding people that the size of a gift was never about the money.

Under the emerging Trump peace deal, Iran has agreed not to pursue a nuclear weapon and will reopen the Strait of Hormuz to commercial shipping. In return the US will release $25 billion in frozen Iranian assets.
This follows weeks of Pakistani-mediated back channel talks, a $300 billion reconstruction fund proposal, and the departure of the USS Gerald R. Ford carrier group from the region.
$25 billion unfrozen. A nuclear program halted. A strait reopened. After everything, the deal finally has numbers attached to it.

Brent and WTI crude both moved lower this week, dropping toward $79 a barrel as reports of an emerging US-Iran peace agreement eased fears over Strait of Hormuz disruptions. Market confidence improved almost immediately as the threat of supply shocks through one of the world's most critical oil routes started to fade.
Despite the global drop, analysts say the impact on fuel prices in Pakistan remains uncertain. Local petrol and diesel prices depend on exchange rates, taxes, government policy, and import costs separate from international benchmarks.

In September 2020 a French-Pakistani woman was r***d at gunpoint beside a motorway near Lahore after her car ran out of fuel, with her children present. The case triggered nationwide protests across Pakistan.
Both Abid Malhi and Shafqat Ali were convicted using phone data and DNA evidence. An anti-terrorism court sentenced them to death in March 2021. On June 3, 2026 the Lahore High Court rejected their appeals and upheld both death sentences. Further appeal remains possible.
Six years later the court's answer is the same. The sentences stand.

On June 11 a hazardous materials sensor inside the Pentagon triggered a full emergency response after detecting a possible anthrax presence. Multiple floors were locked down, corridors were evacuated, and hazmat units rushed to the scene of the world's largest office building.
Pentagon officials later confirmed a sensor malfunction caused the alarm. No hazardous material was found. Normal operations resumed shortly after.
The headquarters of the most powerful military on Earth was briefly shut down by a broken sensor.

Asked what he wants for his 80th birthday during an Oval Office signing ceremony, Donald Trump paused and answered — peace for the whole world. He added that world peace is also his New Year's resolution for 2026.
The statement came as Trump simultaneously vowed to keep attacking Iran very hard and insisted the country can never have a nuclear weapon. Earlier this year US troops captured Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro and US and Israeli forces launched attacks on Iran.
Trump turns 80 on June 14 with a UFC event for 5,000 guests at the White House. His birthday wish and his foreign policy are currently pointing in opposite directions.
