The Kenyan High Commissioner to Uganda, H.E. Amb. Ababu Namwamba, EGH today paid a courtesy call to the Principal/CEO, Mr. Mark Ogendi.

The discussions focused on fostering collaboration and exploring mutually beneficial programs aimed at advancing hospitality and tourism training, capacity building and strengthening regional integration within the East African hospitality sector.

Also accompanying the Ambassador, was Miss COSMO Kenya, Ms. Linsey Zawadi. COSMO is a beauty pageant that markets itself around the idea of “Impactful Beauty,” focusing not just on appearance, but also on influence, social impact, tourism, fashion and cultural exchange.

Principal/CEO, Mr. Mark Ogendi, paid a courtesy call to the Italian Ambassador to Kenya, H.E. Amb. Vincenzo Del Monaco, accompanied by the Director, Academic Affairs, Ms. Esther Kotut, Deputy Director, Admissions, Placement and Alumni, Mr. Benard Amaya, Chef Esther Wangari as well as culinary students.

Kenya Utalii College marked the successful conclusion of the 2026 Regional Refresher Courses for the Central, North Rift and Mara regions at Lake Naivasha Sawela Lodge.

The graduation ceremony was graced by the Chairman, Nakuru County Tourism Association, Mr. David Mwangi as the Chief Guest, alongside the
Principal/CEO Kenya Utalii College Mr. Mark Ogendi, Kenya Utalii College Council Members, Mr. Michael Muturi and Ms. Cicilia Saayioi, key industry leaders and partners from across the hospitality and tourism sector.

Over the past two weeks, 247 participants underwent intensive, hands-on training in areas such as Supervisory Skills, Housekeeping Techniques, Banqueting & Events, Artistry of Plate Presentation, and Customer Service Excellence, equipping them with relevant, industry-driven competencies.

The strong turnout, with over 4,000 applications received for the 2026 programme, underscores the growing demand for continuous professional development in the sector.

As they return to their respective establishments, the graduates carry with them enhanced skills, fresh perspectives, and a renewed commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences and advancing Kenya’s hospitality standards.

A proud milestone for the Youth Hospitality Training Programme from Tinderet Integrated Technical and Trainers College (TITTC) as the first cohort graduates after an intensive three-month training at Kenya Utalii College.

The 100 trainees, equipped with hands-on skills in Kitchen Operations and Food & Beverage Service, now proceed to industrial attachment to gain real-world experience and deepen their industry exposure. This initiative continues to empower youth with market-ready skills, opening pathways to meaningful employment and entrepreneurship within Kenya and across the global hospitality industry.

The graduation ceremony was graced by Hon. Julius Meli, MP Tinderet Constituency, Mr. Mark Ogendi, Principal/CEO Kenya Utalii College, Ms. June Chepkemei, CEO Kenya Tourism Board and Mr. John Kikwai, Principal, TITTC, underscoring a shared commitment to nurturing talent and uplifting communities.
