THRIVE Project Officially Launched at Kenyatta University!
Kenyatta University hosted the successful Inception Workshop and Launch of the THRIVE Project (Transforming Higher Education through Responsive, Inclusive Ventures and Ecosystems) in partnership with the British Council and Lancaster University , UK.
The event brought together university leadership, faculty, students, and international partners to foster innovation, entrepreneurship, and inclusive higher education ecosystems.
Key Highlights:
>> Dr. Linda Kimencu (Project PI) and Mrs. Mary Mwangi (KU CO-PI) led the opening and progress presentations, with 150 innovators selected and 5 advanced prototypes already in development.
>> Prof. Kirk Semple (UK CO-PI & Director of International Research, Lancaster University) and Dr. Akanimo Odon (Head of African Strategic Partnerships, Lancaster University) joined virtually and in-person to share insights.
>> British Council Representative Mary Ndinguri emphasized capacity building and student empowerment.
>> Dr. Susan Musembi highlighted the role of the Chandaria Business and Innovation Centre working with start up teams through incubation services, mentorship, workspace provision, collaborating with the British Council for funding and prototyping of the ideas.
>> Prof. Caroline Thoruwa (Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research, Innovation and Outreach) officially launched the project, stating that innovation is not merely about generating ideas but also about impact , inclusivity and sustainability.
This marks a new chapter in student innovation and global collaboration at KU!
