He taught with conviction, led with humility, and served with uncommon grace.
Prof. James Kombo leaves behind more than titles and institutions. He leaves a living legacy of wisdom poured into minds, faith anchored in service, and leadership that quietly transformed lives.

He shaped people, not just classrooms. He built character, not just careers. And in doing so, he left a mark that time will not erase.

We honor a life deeply lived, faithfully given, and generously shared.
Rest well, Professor. Your impact endures.

Honouring Legacy, Celebrating Connection
Yesterday, Monday 13th of April, 2026, Dr. Leah Komen joined Ghana Alumni representatives Kofi Dzokoto and Stanley Kwaku Abiew on a heartfelt journey to honour Daystar’s pillars of faith and vision.
The journey began at the home of Dr. Mutheu Talitwala, wife of the late Prof. Stephen Talitwala, Daystar’s first Vice Chancellor, where memories of leadership and legacy were warmly shared. In a full-circle moment, Dr. Jane Awiti, former lecturer to the group nearly 40 years ago, joined the gathering, rekindling bonds of mentorship and learning.
The delegation then visited Dr. Donald Smith, Founder of Daystar University, reflecting on the vision that shaped the institution, alongside former Registrar Mrs. Nkita Arao.
Their pilgrimage concluded at Heroes Corner, where they paid respects to Prof. Talitwala and Mrs. Faye Smith, wife of Dr. Smith and Co‑Founder of Daystar University. This powerful tribute underscored the enduring bonds and legacy that continue to define the Daystar community.
