Community workshops and youth forums are a great tool in reaching out and creating awareness among the youths in the slums about registering as voters, making informed choices for the people they vote for as leaders and most of all maintain peace before, during and after the elections. This is why the Society for International Development (SID) in collaboration with the St Johns Sports Society (SJSS)Korogocho and University Mtaani organized a youth forum that was held at St Johns Primary school on 17th February 2017, from 02:30pm. University Mtaani students had a very good time interacting with the university's friends who came to pay a visit at Huruma from Switzerland. With them was the Director ISMM, Tangaza University College. It was a great moment to share and learn various experiences we get from the day to day interactions within our communities. The students narrated touching occurrences they come across and deal with when facilitating community workshops, community forum and family gatherings with the intention of bringing about transformation into these communities. The resolution was that, before a civic and development facilitator tries to bring transformation to the community, it should start with them as individuals.
