The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Deogratius Jaganyi, today welcomed the institution's newest cohort of students at an address themed "The Journey of Self-Discovery: Finding Your Passion and Purpose."
Speaking to the incoming students, Prof. Jaganyi emphasized that university life extends beyond academic achievement, describing Mount Kenya University as a space for students to discover themselves, test their abilities, and begin to understand their role in contributing meaningfully to society.
The Vice Chancellor urged the new students to use this period for introspection, to understand who they are and the value they are positioned to add to their communities and the nation at large.
Addressing the uncertainty many students face at the start of their academic journey, Prof. Jaganyi noted that it is entirely normal not to have all the answers regarding one's identity or future direction. He advised that, in the absence of certainty, students should be anchored by four guiding principles: character, competency, relationships, and a strong sense of purpose.
Mount Kenya University extends a warm welcome to its newest students and looks forward to supporting them throughout this transformative journey.
