🤖✨ Workshop on the Ethical and Professional Use of AI Successfully Conducted at IHRA, University of Colombo

The Library of the Institute of Human Resource Advancement (IHRA), University of Colombo, successfully organized a workshop on “Ethical and Professional Use of AI” on 17 June 2026 at the IHRA Computer Laboratory.

The session was conducted by Mr. T. Ramanan, Senior Assistant Librarian of the Main Library, University of Colombo, who shared valuable insights on the effective, responsible, and ethical use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in academic environments.

The workshop highlighted important areas including the application of AI tools in academic activities, ethical considerations in research and publications, challenges of overdependence on AI, and the importance of maintaining critical thinking and academic integrity in an AI-driven world.

The interactive session provided participants with an opportunity to explore the opportunities and challenges of AI technologies while enhancing their understanding of responsible AI practices.

The certificate awarding ceremony was held with the participation of Prof. DAC Suranga Silva, Director, Institute of Human Resource Advancement (IHRA), University of Colombo, who presented certificates to the participants and appreciated their active participation and commitment to learning.

IHRA extends its sincere appreciation to Mr. T. Ramanan for sharing his expertise, Mrs. Gayani Perera, Acting Librarian, IHRA, University of Colombo, for organizing this valuable programme, and all participants for their enthusiastic engagement and contribution towards the success of the workshop.

📌 IHRA commenced Strategic Planning for 2027–2031

The Institute of Human Resource Advancement (IHRA) has officially commenced the development of its Strategic Plan: 2027–2031. To map out an achievement-oriented future, the institute is conducting a comprehensive, institutional Analysis with the active participation of all staff members.

The initial planning and alignment meeting was held on June 16, 2026, at the IHRA premises. To ensure a robust process, Dr. GRP Silva, Senior Lecturer from the Faculty of Management and Finance, University of Colombo, joined the session to provide strategic guidance and technical support to the Analysis Conducting Team.

This collaborative milestone underscores IHRA’s ongoing commitment to institutional excellence and participatory governance.

💙 Moments of Compassion, Friendship & Joy at Prithipura Children’s Home 💙

The Bachelor of Labour Management (Honours) Degree Programme 2022/2023 Batch, Institute of Human Resource Advancement (IHRA), University of Colombo, actively involved in a CSR programme at Prithipura Children’s Home, sharing a memorable day filled with smiles, kindness, and positive connections.

The event was also enriched by the active participation of Mr. Krishmal Fernando, Department of International Business, Faculty of Management and Finance, University of Colombo, who serves as a Visiting Lecturer for the Bachelor of Labour Management (Honours) Degree Programme.

A day dedicated to spreading happiness, building friendships, and embracing the true spirit of giving. ✨

The Institute of Human Resource Advancement (IHRA), University of Colombo, successfully organized a “Sago Dansala” on 12th of June 2026 at the IHRA premises to celebrate the Poson Poya Day.

The event was graced by several distinguished guests, Senior Professor (Chair) Indika Mahesh Karunathilake, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Colombo; Emeritus Professor Ven. (Dr.) W. Wimalaratana from the Department of Economics, Faculty of Arts; University of Colombo and Professor DAC Suranga Silva, Director of IHRA, University of Colombo.

We sincerely thank everyone who visited and enjoyed a refreshing cup of sago. We also greatly appreciate the hard work and dedication of all IHRA staff members who helped make this Poson celebration a meaningful and successful event.

කොළඹ විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ, මානව සම්පත් අභිවර්ධන ආයතනයේ (IHRA) කාර්ය මණ්ඩලය විසින් සංවිධානය කරන ලද "පැණිසව් දන්සල" ජුනි 12 වන දින IHRA ආයතනය ඉදිරිපිටදී ඉතාමත් සාර්ථක ලෙස පවත්වනු ලැබීය.

මෙම අවස්ථාව වඩාත් විචිත්‍රවත් කරමින්, කොළඹ විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ ගරු උපකුලපති මහාචාර්ය ඉන්දික මහේෂ් කරුණාතිලක මහතා , කලා පීඨයේ ආර්ථික විද්‍යා අධ්‍යයනාංශයේ සම්මානිත මහාචාර්ය, පූජ්‍ය ඩබ්ලිව්. විමලරතන හිමි සහ IHRA ආයතනයේ අධ්‍යක්ෂ මහාචාර්ය ඩී.ඒ.සී. සුරංග සිල්වා යන මහත්වරුන් ඇතුළු සම්භාවනීය පිරිසක් මේ සඳහා සහභාගී වූහ.
