IEEE Student Branch of The Open University of Sri Lanka Hello, welcome to the Open University of Sri Lanka IEEE Student Branch which is located in region 10.

IEEE stands for Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers. IEEE’s core purpose is to foster technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity. IEEE’s roots go back to 1884 when electricity began to become a major influence in society. There was one major established electrical industry, the telegraph which since the 1840s had come to connect the world with a data communica

tions system faster than the speed of transportation. The telephone and electrical power and light industries had just gotten underway. IEEE’s fields of interest expanded well beyond electrical and electronics engineering and computing into areas such as micro- and nanotechnologies, ultrasonic, robotics etc. Members rely on the IEEE as a source of technical and professional information, resources and services. To foster an interest in the engineering profession, the IEEE also serves student member in colleges and universities around the world. Those are helping student members gain the most benefits from their IEEE membership

We are delighted to share the inspiring highlights from the IEEE Jamboree 2024 – Zone C, hosted by the Open University of Sri Lanka on August 30, 2024. 💫

This remarkable event was organized in collaboration with University of Ruhuna, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka Research University, CINEC Campus, and Sabaragamuwa University, bringing together bright minds and innovative ideas. 🙌

We were honored to welcome Prof. Uditha Rathnayake as the Chief Guest, making the day even more memorable. 📸💡
