🎉 Congratulations! 🎉

The Department of Zoology and Environmental Management warmly congratulates Prof. R. P. Gayani Rajapaksa on her great scientific contribution to the Extraordinary Gazette (2456/42), which now regulates “Bisphenol-A (BPA) in plastic baby feeding bottles and water bottles in Sri Lanka”.

This is a remarkable accomplishment by the Consumer Affairs Authority, and we are proud of our Department’s scientific contribution towards this milestone – from the first reporting of BPA leaching from “BPA-free” baby feeding bottles in Sri Lanka in 2019 to the "findings of BPA-driven physiological effects using invivo and invitro models".

Special appreciation goes out to the dedicated undergraduate research students – Kanchaka Sidath Senal Pathiraja, Ruwanthi De Soyza, Navoda Rajapaksha, Divani Shanika, Parami Prabodha and Yashoda Dulanthi for their valuable scientific contribution.
