Internal Quality Assurance Unit - Horizon Campus

The Internal Quality Assurance Unit (IQAU) of the Horizon Campus introduced a Deans’ List to honor students of exceptional achievement during their education in different faculties. Motivating students to achieve their highest possible academic standards and to encourage students to be engaged in campus/community service are the two main objectives of introducing Deans’ List.
Horizon Campus held its 3rd Deans list awards ceremony on 9th April 2019 at the campus premises. 67 students who have achieved excellent results for the academic year 2017/2018 were facilitated by being recognized by the respective faculty Deans as such.
Mr. Upul Daranagama/Chairman, Horizon Group of Companies, Prof. S. J. B. A. Jayasekera/Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Ruwan Perera/Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Mr. Ajitha Wanasinghe/Chief Executive Officer, Deans of Faculties, Academic & Administrative Staff members and students of the campus graced the occasion.

Horizon Campus has successfully completed the 120-hour course in Staff Development.
Eminent personalities from the industry and state university system have been conducted in different sessions. The programme is sphere-headed by the Internal Quality Assurance Unit (IQAU) of Campus. The award ceremony held on 23rd October 2018 at the Regent Country Club, Malabe. Prof. Udith Jayasinghe, Senior Professor of Wayamba University was the Chief Guest of the event. The Chairman, The Vice-Chancellor, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, the Registrar, all Deans of faculties, the Librarian and the awardees graced the occasion.

Horizon Campus, Commenced its Staff Development Programme facilitating and supporting the needs of its teaching staff recently. A total of 24 staff members will be taking part in this training programme, which will run for a duration of a minimum of 15 weeks. Eminent personalities from the industry and state university system will be invited and will train the teaching staff over this period of time. This is in keeping with the ideals of providing a true quality assured academic programme for students who enroll at Horizon Campus to pursue their chosen field of study. The programme is sphere-headed by the IQAU of Campus and co-ordinated by Prof.T.Thanaraj, the Chairman of the Unit & Ms.Samanthi Wickramasighe, the Executive in Quality Assurance at Campus.

Horizon Campus held its second Deans list awards ceremony at the campus premises. 36 students who have achieved excellent results for the academic year 2016/2017 were facilitated by being recognised by the respective faculty Deans as such. The students who received Deans list certificates represent the top 5% of campus students and can be truly considered as the Creme' de la creme' The high achievers represented the UGC degree programmes in IT, Management & Education as well as University of London & Nilai University, Malaysia. The management of Horizon campus also hopes that this will be a spur and motivation for all other students in striving for greater heights in their academic career at Horizon Campus.

Workshop on Importance of Mentoring and Counselling for Students - 27th June 2017

The workshop was conducted by Prof. D. S. Ranawaka (Resource Person) with the participation of the IQAU members, academic and administrative staff of the Horizon Campus.

Ms. Samanthi Wickramasinghe, Executive in Quality Assurance presented a paper on "Relationship among Learning Style, Assessment Methods and Students' Performance at the Third International Conference on Education and Distance Learning 2017 organized by the Global Academic Research Institute. It was held on 28th April 2017 in Galle Face Hotel, Colombo with the participation of many foreign and local academics.

Asia Pacific Quality Network (APQN) Conference and AGM in Natadola, Fiji from 25th – 27th May 2015. Two papers were presented at the conferences by Prof. Colin N. Peiris and Ms. Samanthi Wickramasinghe on Assuring Standards and Quality of Higher Education: Teaching & Learning and The Internet Generation and Its Implication on Higher Education Quality Management respectively.

Associate Membership of International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies for Higher Education (INQAAHE)

It is a pleasure to inform you that our membership application has been approved by the INQAAHE Board.

The International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education (INQAAHE) is a world-wide association of over 200 organizations active in the theory and practice of quality assurance in higher education. The great majority of its members are quality assurance agencies that operate in many different ways, although the Network also welcomes (as associate members) other organisations that have an interest in QA in HE.

INQAAHE offers members many services, including a Journal, a Bulletin, a Query service, a Good Practice database, and a Professional Qualification in QA. There are also Conferences and Fora at least annually.
