Today, the Department of Public Policy, University of Ruhuna, in collaboration with the Awarelogue Asian Institute, successfully conducted the Independence Print Exhibition at the PP2 Lecture Hall from 10:30 AM to 4:00 PM.

Presented by Dr. George I.H. Cooke, Initiator of the Awarelogue Initiative, this exhibition draws from the L.S.W. Pathirathne Collection. It is a project of the Awarelogue Initiative undertaken to enhance awareness and dialogue on Sri Lanka’s historical journey to independence. The exhibition illuminated a bygone era, fostering wider awareness and deeper dialogue on the events, decisions, and policy environment of the independence period, particularly within academic spaces across the country.

After the introductory session, students actively participated in group activities and discussions on Revisiting and Reanalyzing History, Independence Overshadowed, Pageantry of Independence, and Lessons from the Past for the Future. Special thanks to Dr. George I.H. Cooke for his invaluable contribution in curating this exhibition and inspiring meaningful dialogue. We also thank everyone who joined us in revisiting our history and shaping dialogue for the future.
