It is the World Mental Health Day -2014

The Department of Philosophy and Psychology together with Psychological Society of University of Peradeniya and Nivahana Society Kandy conducted an awareness program on Learning Disorders for School counselors today 10th of October, 2014 at the NAT, Faculty of Arts, University of Peradeniya while the Opening ceremony was held at the Seminar room of Faculty of Arts,University of Peradeniya.

The program is in lieu of World Mental Health Day which falls under the same date. The theme of the program was "Friendly Classrooms - Brighter Futures" as it aimed to promote friendly school atmospheres for children struggling with various behavioural challenges and targeted over 50 school counsellors from the Hill Country Region.

The day ended in utmost success.We invite you all to join hands with us through out this month to promote the awareness.

World Mental Health Day
10 October 2014

World Mental Health Day is observed on 10 October every year, with the overall objective of raising awareness of mental health issues around the world and mobilizing efforts in support of mental health.

The Day provides an opportunity for all stakeholders working on mental health issues to talk about their work, and what more needs to be done to make mental health care a reality for people worldwide.

The theme for 2014 is “Living with schizophrenia”. The focus of the World Health Organization will be living a healthy life with schizophrenia.

As the society of psychology we think it is our duty to share some information regarding this year's Mental Health Celebration all over the world while we have plan our own program on 10th here in our University.Hope you will join hands with this journey through out this month to spread the awareness among the community.
