Hello I'm Youssef ELIDRISSI, computer science engineer student at ENSIAS in Rabat, Morocco, specialized in Business Intelligence with an anticipated graduation date in July 2015.
I have joined IEEE since 2013 and the IEEE University Mohamed V - ENSIAS Student Branch (Region 8, Morocco Section) at the same time. At the beginning, I wasn't motivated but after some months I discovered all the benefits of being an IEEE member. I discovered the IEEE Computer Society which was really interesting as I'm a computer science student.
By the end of 2013 I became the chair of the Student Branch and it was the first time I have been appointed to this position. Luckily, the headmaster of our school is the counselor of the Student Branch and also the chair of IEEE Morocco Section, so he helped a lot to organize some activities, to discover the other sides of IEEE and to participate to foreign projects.
With this sort of involvement I have become knowledgeable of some interesting engineering careers and I've developed my entrepreneurial skills and also my sense of initiative. Through this experience I had the chance to attend to the IEEE Congress in Krakow, Poland last summer to represent my student branch, to network and to launch projects with the other participants.
It was my first Regional IEEE activity and I was really surprised that to be the only one from Morocco.
Few weeks ago, I became a Student Ambassador of the IEEEmadC (Mobile Application Development Contest) in my university and also in my section. It's a great honor to hold this kind of position especially here in Morocco so I can get students involved in this international contest. I've joined also the Student Activities Committee (SAC) of the IEEE Education Society, and I hope we'll do some great job for the upcoming years.
Being a member of IEEE is a great experience that makes me open to the world and this also enables me to share this experience with Moroccan students and urge them to get involved in this kind of institutes because it's one of the best ways to learn new things, connect with people all over the world and to be implicated in interesting engineering science.
Humans of IEEE is really proud to post your profile, keep learning, keep contributing, keep yourself IEEE!
