We are pleased to welcome Professor Carla Fraga, an Associate Professor at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF), Brazil, whose interdisciplinary trajectory brings together tourism, neuroscience, computing, mobility and human behaviour.
With a PhD and a Master’s degree in Transportation Engineering from COPPE/UFRJ, a degree in Tourism and postgraduate training in Neuroscience and Applied Psychology, Professor Fraga has developed a distinctive academic profile at the intersection of traditionally separate fields.
A particularly important contribution to this interdisciplinary agenda is her leadership of the Research Group on Tourism: Neuroscience and Computing (GPTN&C), certified by the Brazilian National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq). Through this initiative, she has helped create a dedicated research space for connecting tourism studies, neuroscience and computing, contributing to the institutional development of Neurotourism in Brazil.
Her recent work has contributed to advancing the theoretical and methodological foundations of Neurotourism, exploring how neuroscience can deepen our understanding of tourist experience, cognition, emotion, behaviour, wellbeing and decision-making. Her research also examines the interface between neuroscience, digital technologies and tourism, including emerging neurophysiological and computational approaches.
Professor Fraga’s work extends Neurotourism beyond promotional contexts, connecting it with tourism planning and management, destination image, mobility, sustainability and human experience. Her academic trajectory therefore combines research, interdisciplinary field-building and scientific leadership, contributing to the consolidation of Neurotourism as an emerging area linking tourism, neuroscience and technology.
At the International Conference on Neuromarketing and Human Behavior in
Organizations, Professor Fraga will contribute to Plenary 3 – “Neurotourism and tourism experiences: attention, emotion, image and memory”, with the intervention: “Neurotourism, tourism experience and human behaviour.”
