When Proximity Doesn’t Equal Opportunity 🌱📘
Sadung sits within reach of larger towns and busy routes, yet the community continues to face real challenges in accessing quality education. During their CAS (Creativity, Action, Service) journey, our KC Junior College students witnessed this contrast first-hand — how being “close” does not always translate into equal learning opportunities.
What they encountered in Sadung was not a lack of potential, but a lack of resources. And in that gap, they discovered their role: to listen, to support, and to serve. From mentoring students to creating simple learning tools, every small act became a reminder that service is not measured by distance, but by commitment.
This experience deepened their understanding that meaningful development begins with showing up — with humility, empathy, and a willingness to work alongside communities. Sadung reminded them that education is a shared responsibility, and that even in places near familiar roads, there is still important work to be done.
Through this journey, our students learned that proximity may be a matter of geography, but opportunity is something we must build together.
