An inspiring Dhamma Talk and Workshop for Nursing and Midwifery Training lecturers and students from Taunggyi, led by The Most Venerable Oxford Sayadaw, Prof. Dr. K. Dhammasami, was held at the Dhamma Hall of Shan State Buddhist University.

The session explored the integration of Buddhist wisdom, the science of mindfulness, and Muditā (Appreciative Joy) in promoting trauma healing, resilience, and compassionate healthcare practice.

Buddha Pūjā & Paritta Chanting Ceremony

Shan State Buddhist University (SSBU) commemorates its 10th Founding Anniversary with a Buddha Pūjā, Collective Paritta Chanting Ceremony, and the meritorious building of thousands of small sand stupas (cetiya).

The ceremony is held in accordance with the instruction of the Most Venerable Khuva Boonchum, Ñaṅasamvara, Mong Phong Sayadaw, who is observing the rains retreat in Bhutan.

Led by Most Venerable Sayadaw Dr. Ñāṇobhāsa, Abbot of Maiihimārāma Monastery, Namlan, lecturers, students, staffs and devotees gathered to offer Buddha Pūjā, chant sacred Paritta, and participate in this noble act of merit.

May this auspicious occasion bring peace, harmony, and blessings for the flourishing of the Buddha Sāsana, SSBU, and all beings.

May the Triple Gem bless everyone with peace, good health, wisdom, and lasting happiness.

Shan State Buddhist University (SSBU), under the compassionate leadership of our Most Venerable Rector, Prof. Dr. Khammai Dhammasami, together with Ven. Vijayābhipāla, Director of the Shan Manuscripts, and Ven. Vicittābhipāla, Pro-Rector, is honored to host 95 Buddhist monks and 11 Buddhist nuns, making a total of 106 members of the Saṅgha, who are observing theRainy Retreat at the university.

Full Moon Day of July,(29 2026) devotees from Taunggyi and other townships visited the Shan State Buddhist University (SSBU) to pay their respects and offer Waso robes and requisites according to Buddhist tradition. May everyone share in these merits and be blessed with happiness and protection.

Visit of H.E. Mr. Abhay Thakur, Ambassador of India, to SSBU

On 12 July 2026, H.E. Mr. Abhay Thakur, Ambassador of India, and his spouse visited Shan State Buddhist University (SSBU).

The delegation was warmly welcomed at the SSBU Library, where they were given a guided tour of the library facilities. During the visit, they also explored the Indian Corner, a special collection of books on India, including many volumes generously donated by the Ambassador.

As part of the visit, the Ambassador and his delegation respectfully offered Vassa (Rains Retreat) robes to the Most Venerable Dr. K. Dhammasāmi, Founder and Rector of SSBU.

SSBU is deeply grateful for the Ambassador’s visit and continued support, which further strengthens the enduring friendship and educational cooperation between India and SSBU.
