Welcoming our Second Cohort of Learners!

Following the successful first batch of learners enrolled, this new intake comprises 15 young, dynamic and motivated learners who are embarking on a journey to develop the specialised knowledge and technical competencies required in meteorological telecommunications.

The induction was graced by Dr P Booneeady, Acting Director of the Mauritius Meteorological Services, and Dr D Surroop, Director-General of the Open University of Mauritius.

In their addresses, they emphasised the importance of commitment, discipline, and a strong learning culture, while highlighting the dedication and collaborative efforts of both institutions in making this partnership a success.

Upon successful completion of the programme, participants will be qualified as Meteorological Telecommunication Technicians, equipped with the expertise required to support the critical communication systems that underpin modern weather monitoring and forecasting services.

The Open University of Mauritius was pleased to welcome Ms Neesha Ramsumar, Chief Executive Officer of Universal Knowledge Software (South Africa), and Mr Shaune Lategan, Integration Specialist.

The discussions focused on the University's current and future library and learning requirements, emerging trends in library technologies, digital transformation, and opportunities to enhance access to information resources and learning support services.

The meeting explored potential areas of collaboration in integrated library management systems, digital resource platforms, and innovative learning technologies that support teaching, research, and student engagement.
