The 6th February marks the International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Ge***al Mutilation, an awarenss and prevention day around the Female Ge***al Mutilation [FGM] around the world.

The International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Ge***al Mutilation is an opportunity to raise awarenss on the causes, factors of FGM on women’s Bodies and Rights.

The practice which has existed through years is however understated for its social and cultural factors in ethnic minorities. However, it is also noted that with Medical FGM, women in developing countries experience it also.

Female Ge***al Mutilation showcases deep-rooted inequality between the sexes and extreme form of discrimination against women and girls.

Therefore, combined efforts are required to bring about awareness and end this painful practice.

Today marks the International Day of Men. We would like to seize this opportunity to recognize the cultural, politics and socio-economic achievements and efforts of our men who made our world a modernized one. We also thank our male allies as their contribution makes all the difference *heart emoji*

We recently put out a survey on the Body Insecurities of Men and through the data we collected, it has been possible for us to detect and analyse the toxic patterns men go through in our society. Nowadays, body positivity and confidence is preached but it is often directed to women only. Let us take this time to remember the expectations, derogatory nicknames, bullying that both men and women are victims of.

We would like to raise awareness on men's mental health which is unfortunately insufficiently discussed due to the intricacies of the patriarchy. It is everyone's responsibility to make men feel safe and heard.

International Men's Day further highlights male role models and promotes positive masculinity. Lets break the stigma and make our Men feel safe to express themselves for a healthy and promised future.

During this unprecedented period of Covid-19, we also salute the efforts of our frontliners for their dedication and devotion.

Lets stand together for our Men's Mental Health!

Abnormal Menstrual Cramps Awareness
Women's tolerance to pain is questioned because of its banality and few educational awareness.

Menstrual pain was reported by 84.1% of women with 43.1% reporting that pain occurred during every period, and 41% reporting that pain occurred during some periods. Our women tend to suffer silently of abdominal pain which can disrupt their activities or to certain extent hospitalize them.

As such, it is important for raise awareness to help women raise their voice if they are not feeling well. Menstrual cramps can cause irritation, frustration and conflicts within the household making it important to be spoken out to limit misunderstanding and more compassion for each other.

Men, your support is important for women to feel better about ourselves during these times. Your understanding and help will help them to be more alert of their bodies and seek rest whenever they feel forcing themselves is becoming a dreadful impact on their mental health.

The 18th October is the World Menopause Day, an annual campaign to raise awareness around the natural stage of a woman’s life when her hormone levels decline and periods cease.

The World Menopause Day is an opportunity to raise awareness around the realities of female health and the management options available, while combating global stigma and misinformation.

It is important to note that the early signs of perimenopause which include depression, anxiety, mood swings and no energy can have a huge impact on the mental health of so many women nationwide. Moreover, this year's selected theme is bone health as in healthy bone; up to the menopause, the production of new bone happens more than the removal of old bone, but the opposite happens after the menopause.

This is why the purpose of the day is to raise awareness of the menopause and the support options available for improving women's health and well-being.

17/10/2021

On the 17th of October, the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty is observed to raise awareness on poverty and honored to provide:

•an opportunity to recognize poverty-stricken people's efforts and sufferings;

•a chance to express their concerns; and

•a moment to remember that the poor are the ones that combat poverty first.

Millions of people living in extreme poverty in a society marked by unprecedented levels of economic progress, technological means, and financial resources is a moral outrage. Poverty is a multifaceted phenomena that comprises a lack of both finance and fundamental ability to live in dignity.

Poverty causes a slew of interconnected and mutually reinforcing deprivations that keep people including men, women, young girls, boys and children from achieving their rights and perpetuate their poverty, such as:

•Dangerous work conditions
•Unsafe housing
•Lack of nutritious food
•Unequal access to justice
•Lack of political power
•Limited access to health care
•Restricted access to education

Let us all help each other to break the power of poverty. As individuals, we are the leaders in making the change we want.

Together, we are stronger and with each little action that we undertake, we are transforming this world into a better place. So, you are the change dear friends. With your contribution in raising awareness and helping people in need, you are a step closer to eradicating poverty.

As Father Joseph Wresinski said, "Wherever men and women are condemned to live in extreme poverty, human rights are violated. To come together to ensure that these rights be respected is our solemn duty."

Did you know October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month? Many parents do not talk about the immense pain they go through when losing their child whether through miscarriages or stillbirths. For instance, they keep all these feelings of frustration, anger, sadness or even shame bottled up mainly because of what the society might think and the fear of how this circumstance will define them.

Pregnancy and infant loss is common worldwide, so there is no need to feel ashamed or any less of a woman. Instead of blaming the mother or parents, we should seek how to support them and make them feel valued despite their painful experience.

Even in this digitalised era, many people think that it is a taboo to talk about such situation. As a result, there is inadequate information on this topic and people are not well-educated.

Expressing our feelings and experiences no matter what others' perspectives are, is of utmost importance, especially where we feel the need to talk to someone about such a sensitive matter. After having gone through such a harsh reality, it is crucial to give the couples a voice to their sufferings and help them to overcome their agony.

Let us together break the silence that surrounds pregnancy and infant loss, offer support to individuals who are grieving, and remove myths and false expectations held by others who have never experienced such pain. Let us stand together in solidarity to support our community and bring a change in the society.

UFE is with you and for you ❤
