The Autonomous University of Chihuahua (in Spanish: Universidad Autónoma de Chihuahua, UACH) is a Mexican university based in Chihuahua city, Chihuahua, but with several campuses across the state. UACH was founded by decree 171 of the Honorable Congress of the State of Chihuahua on December 8, 1954 sponsored by the Governor Oscar Soto Maynez. Initially had the schools of Medicine, Law, Physical Ed
ucation and Pharmacy. In 1956 he founded the school of Livestock that later would become the School of Animal Science. In 1958 he created the School of Accounting and Administration, then Faculty of Accountancy and Business Administration. In 1960 he founded the Central Library with a collection of 2.353 volumes. In 1963 he founded the School of Philosophy, Literature and Journalism which renamed the Faculty of Arts. In 1967 he founded the School of Agriculture, which would become the College of Agricultural Sciences and Forestry. In 1968, was born the School of Public Administration and Political Science, Faculty of transformed Political and Social few years later. In 1974 began the race engineer grower, that constitutes the College of Fruits, independent from the School of Chemical and rises to the rank of faculty in 1985. On May 12, 1978, construction began on the university gymnasium and opens on October 2, 1980.
