The Centre for Academic Advancement and Flexible Learning (CAFEL), Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN), proudly served as the secretariat and academic support partner for the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) 2026 Preparation Workshop held from 4 to 6 May 2026 at UNITEN Putrajaya Campus.
The programme was organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Education Malaysia (Kementerian Pendidikan Malaysia) through the Bahagian Sukan, Kokurikulum dan Kesenian (BSKK) as part of the national preparation initiative for Malaysia’s representatives to Regeneron ISEF 2026, one of the world’s most prestigious international science and engineering competitions involving participants from over 90 countries worldwide.
A total of six outstanding projects, comprising both individual and group categories, were represented by students from five selected schools:
• Kolej PERMATA Insan
• Sekolah Sultan Alam Shah
• SMK Lake
• SMK Jit Sin
• SMK Chung Ling
CAFEL coordinated the workshop by preparing intensive pitching and presentation training sessions aimed at strengthening the students’ communication, confidence, and innovation presentation skills prior to their international participation in Phoenix, Arizona, United States.
The programme was coordinated by Dr. Jehana Ermy Jamaluddin from CAFEL, working closely alongside Dr. Norshuhani Zamin from the International Office to ensure the smooth implementation and success of the programme.
To ensure comprehensive preparation, CAFEL assembled a dedicated team of lecturers from the College of Computing and Informatics (CCI) and the College of Continuing Education (CCEd), who worked closely with the students in refining their project presentations and competitive pitching techniques.
The programme was led by Dr. Azurawati binti Wok Zaki, Malaysia Fair Lead from the Ministry of Education Malaysia (MOE), together with Dr. Siti Munirah binti Mohd from Kolej PERMATA Insan, Nilai, who accompanied and guided the students throughout the workshop.
The workshop concluded with a meaningful closing ceremony graced by the Vice-Chancellor of Uniten, Prof. Ir. Dr. Khairul Salleh Mohamed Sahari, together with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation), Prof. Ir. Dr. Vigna Kumaran Ramachandaramurthy. Their presence served as a strong source of inspiration and motivation to the participating students as they prepare to represent Malaysia at the international level.
In their remarks, the university leadership commended the students for their passion, creativity, and commitment towards innovation and scientific excellence. The students were encouraged to continue pursuing impactful research and innovative solutions that contribute positively to society while proudly representing Malaysia on the global stage.
The successful implementation of this collaboration reflects UNITEN’s strong commitment towards supporting the preparation of Malaysia’s young innovators and future STEM talents to compete confidently at the international level. The collaboration also demonstrates the shared aspiration between UNITEN and the Ministry of Education Malaysia in strengthening academic partnerships and empowering students through innovation, science, engineering, and technology.
UNITEN looks forward to more meaningful collaborations with the Ministry of Education Malaysia in future initiatives and extends its heartfelt wishes for success to all participating students at Regeneron ISEF 2026. May they continue to inspire excellence and make Malaysia proud in the global arena.
