Our year 4 M.Eng Civil Engineering student, Danial 🥳
Let's hear it from Danial on his internship experience at Gamuda Engineering.
"I gained invaluable hands-on experience that has shaped my understanding of real-world civil engineering practices. My primary role in the QAQC team, conducting Pre-Delivery Inspections (PDI), exposed me to the importance of workmanship quality, attention to detail, and defect management.
The internship challenged me to adapt to demanding site conditions and work under pressure, especially during unexpected events like heavy rainfall that caused site flooding. Assisting my project manager in addressing drainage failures taught me about emergency site management and teamwork under critical circumstances. Daily site walks also helped me develop communication, coordination, and leadership skills by observing how project managers handle subcontractors and manage on-site progress.
Overall, this experience deepened my appreciation for the balance between technical knowledge and soft skills in the construction field. It also strengthened my passion to pursue a career in civil engineering, particularly in project management and site coordination."
Danial would also like to extend his gratitude to his supervisors:
"I sincerely thank my supervisors, Mr. Tariq Ziyad and Ms. Nora, for their support, patience, and guidance throughout my internship. Mr. Tariq mentored me in project management and site coordination and inspired me with his leadership and calm problem-solving approach. Ms. Nora taught me the fundamentals of inspection, documentation, and quality control. Both treated me with kindness and ensured I learned something meaningful every day. Their mentorship has greatly shaped my professional development and confidence as an aspiring engineer."
👉 Danial’s journey reflects how practical exposure and strong mentorship cultivate the technical competence, confidence, and professionalism essential for success in civil engineering.
