Rhema University Nigeria Medicine and Surgery Programme gets Full Accreditation
Rhema University Nigeria medicine and surgery programme has been granted full accreditation status by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
The cheery announcement came after a rigorous evaluation exercise conducted by the Council to ascertain Rhema University's readiness to produce doctors for the marketplace.
In the course of the exercise, the Council conducted a thorough evaluation of the facilities and laboratories, as well as the quality of the faculty staff and the training environment to ascertain their fitness for the training of prospective medical doctors.
Speaking for the Council, Dr. Nnaemeka Nwakanma who also led the team of evaluators commended the Management of Rhema University Nigeria for achieving this milestone in such a short time, and urged the University not to rest on its oars as more work needs to be done to maintain and improve on current standards.
He stressed that getting a full accreditation should not be an excuse for laxity as the Council will not hesitate to withdraw the accreditation if standards are not continually improved upon.
Responding to the cheery news, Rhema University Nigeria Vice Chancellor, Professor Ogbonnaya Onwudike pledged that the University having gotten this far would ensure that the confidence reposed on the University by rhe Council would never be toyed with, and that Rhema University Nigeria would continue to remain a preferred destination for persons aspiring to become medical doctors in Nigeria and from across the borders.
It would be recalled that earlier, Nigeria's National Universities Commission (NUC) had granted full accreditation to the medicine and surgery programme of Rhema University Nigeria.
Present at the briefing event, which held on February 26, 2026 were the Pro-Chancellor, Professor Ogwo Ogwo, Provost, Rhema University Nigeria Medical School, Professor Madu Awa, the Chief Medical Director, Rhema University Teaching Hospital, Dr. Jude Ehiemere and other principal officers of the University.
