Alhamdu Lillahi Rabbil 'aalameen. Wa Solatu Wa Salaamu Alaa Rosulullah.

Today is a great day for not only Crescent University Abeokuta but also for me as the new chancellor of this noble institution which has proudly produced captains of industry in its eighteenth year of existence. I am indeed very grateful to the Proprietor/Chairman Board of Trustees, the Pro-Chancellor and the management of this university for availing me the privilege to serve and contribute my quota.

As an education enthusiast who has served in governments and other institutions both nationally and internationally, I understand the enormity of investments that has gone into the establishment of Crescent University by its Founder, His Excellency Prince Bola Ajibola, who was a judge of the International Court of Justice.

From my findings, this university was established to fly on two wings of "learning and character" since learning alone is not enough to better the society from its rots. Learning without character is the bane of our society while character makes learning complete and beneficial to humanity.

This has been exemplified in the best of mankind, Prophet Muhammad (SAW) by the Almighty Allah describing him as the best in character (Quran 68:4). The prophet was neither praised for his knowledge nor wealth but character. This makes Crescent University, a university for the present and the future as it continues to mould the character of our youth. It is remarkable that this is a platform upon which this noble institution wast built.

Your Excellencies, I must emphasize here that today's graduands and their predecessors are lucky to have sipped from the ocean of Academic and Moral Excellence provided by this prestigious institution. I am really proud to be associated with this.

Most recently, one of our past best graduating students, Halima Abdusalaam who finished from the Department of Biochemistry received a letter of commendation from Nottingham University, UK, for her superlative performance in both academics and character during her Master's degree programme in Bioinformatics. This testimonial vividly is a reflection of *Academic Plus* Halima had received here in Crescent University.

Another alumnus, Lukman Oloyede, who finished with a first class at Crescent University has now been made a brand ambassador of University Strathclyde, Scotland plus scholarship for his Master's in Media and Communications tagged *Dean's International Excellence Award* .

These and other gratifying success stories about the university point to the fact that Crescent University Abeokuta is a project of the Omnipotent Almighty Allah. Insha Allah, I will commit myself to further development and upliftment of this project in my capacity as the chancellor. I have dedicated my life to the services of the Almighty Allah and humanity. This is one of those services.

I congratulate our Honorees, Dr Babatunde Wale-Okewale, HH Alhaji M. Ola Yusuf and Mr Yakubu Layi Gobir and myself on the award of Doctor of Science Honoris Causa of this great university.

I also congratulate all graduating students, parents, guardians, sponsors and especially the Board of Trustees, Governing Council, Management, staff and students of this university on this auspicious occasion.

Thank you for your listening attention
