*PROF. EBOH VISITS ALIHAME, PROMISE A NEW DAWN FOR UNIDEL HOST COMMUNITY*
There was excitement, hope and renewed expectations in Alihame community on Friday, May 15th, 2026, as the Vice-Chancellor of University of Delta, Agbor, (UNIDEL) Prof. Eric Eboh, paid a historic courtesy visit to the institution’s immediate host community, pledging a stronger relationship built on development, inclusion and mutual progress.
The visit, which drew an impressive turnout of enthusiastic community members at the Alihame Town Hall, marked Prof. Eboh’s first official engagement with the closest primary host community since assuming office as Vice-Chancellor of the university.
At the meeting, leaders and members of Alihame community, passionately appealed to the university management to remember the host community in the areas of employment opportunities, security collaboration, award of contracts, admission of students, and corporate social responsibility initiatives.
Speaking during the engagement, the visibly excited community members stressed that as the primary host community of the institution, Alihame deserved inclusion in the developmental vision of the university.
Responding, the Vice-Chancellor expressed gratitude for the warm reception accorded him and members of the new management team, declaring that his administration was determined to reposition the institution for greater heights.
Prof. Eboh said the visit was not only to formally introduce himself and his management team to the community, but also to lay the foundation for a productive and enduring partnership.
“My mission is to raise UNIDEL higher than what it used to be,” he declared.
The Vice-Chancellor further unveiled the human-centred philosophy behind his “RAISE Agenda,” emphasizing that the welfare and inclusion of stakeholders, including the host community, remained central to his administration.
According to him, “Alihame is a primary host community of UNIDEL. In my RAISE agenda for UNIDEL, the letter ‘E’ stands for environment conducive for staff, students and stakeholders, and this automatically includes Alihame.”
In a statement that drew applause from the gathering, Prof. Eboh assured the community that their requests had not fallen on deaf ears.
“You have given us many points to consider under your demands. You have given us a challenge, and by God’s grace our relationship with Alihame will be good. I promise that we will do what we could and leave what we couldn’t do,” he added.
The Vice-Chancellor was accompanied by top officials of the institution, including the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Patrick Ijeh; the Registrar, Dr. Mrs. Esther Akpojuvie; the Bursar, Dr. Sunny Ikeogwu; and the University Librarian, Dr. Mrs. Vera Okonoko, alongside other senior staff of the University.
