What You Should Know About Jamb Mock Exam!!

The JAMB mock examination is simply a practice test designed to familiarise UTME candidates with the real examination environment. It is not compulsory and has no effect on your final UTME score.

Registration for the mock can only be done during UTME registration; once registration closes, the option cannot be added. It is strictly for UTME candidates, as Direct Entry applicants are not eligible. The mock is written before the main UTME, held on a single day, and missing it carries no penalty.

The questions are generally easier than the main exam and are never repeated. Candidates write the same four subjects, are scored over 400, and gain valuable experience with the CBT system, time management, and exam procedures.

To participate, candidates must print their mock slip from the JAMB portal, which shows the exam date, time, and centre. Entry into the exam hall is not allowed without this slip. Results are usually released a few days after the exam.

For first-time UTME candidates especially, the mock exam is strongly recommended as a confidence-building and preparatory exercise.

However, the result or score you will receive will not determine whether you will score more or less in the real/main UTME.

JAMB APPROVES FREE UTME REGISTRATION FOR SOME CATEGORIES OF CANDIDATES
_____
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has approved the issuance of free application forms to Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) for the 2026/2027 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

The announcement was made by the JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, who explained that the initiative covers various categories of disabilities, including Down syndrome, autism, dyslexia, and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), among others. He added that to benefit from the scheme, candidates must have at least five O’Level credit passes obtained in not more than two sittings.

In addition, blind candidates will be provided with audiobooks to support their examination preparation. According to the Registrar, the audiobooks are digital versions of printed study materials and will be available in widely supported audio formats such as MP3, WMV, and WMA to ensure ease of access.

He emphasized that the programme highlights JAMB’s commitment to eliminating barriers and providing equal educational opportunities for candidates with disabilities.

If you do not fall into the approved categories, you must buy the UTME form normally .

JAMB SUSPENDS EXAM TOWN SELECTION FOR EKITI CANDIDATES
_____

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has temporarily halted the selection of examination towns for candidates registering for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in Ekiti State.

This was disclosed by the board’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin. According to him, the decision was made to allow the board restructure the examination town arrangement so that centres will be closer to candidates and transportation stress on exam days can be reduced.

He noted that although candidates are normally allowed to choose towns nearest to them, the 2026 UTME registration began before certain structural irregularities were identified in the configuration of Ekiti examination towns. These issues required urgent correction in the best interest of candidates, leading to the temporary suspension.

As a result, candidates will not be able to select any examination town in Ekiti State while the adjustment is ongoing, though the process is expected to be completed soon.

The board apologised for any inconvenience this may cause candidates during the ongoing registration and assured the public that JAMB continuously reviews its operations and swiftly addresses challenges reported by candidates.

UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS CAN REGISTER FOR THE 2026 UTME/DE BUT MUST DISCLOSE

Despite repeated explanations by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), some members of the public still continue to insinuate wrongly that the Board bars matriculated students from registering for or taking the UTME/DE application documents. This claim is false.

For the avoidance of doubt, JAMB does not prohibit candidates who are already enrolled in tertiary institutions from registering for the UTME/DE. What the Board requires, as clearly stated in the 2026 UTME/DE advertisement, is mandatory disclosure of any existing matriculation status at the point of registration.

Disclosure is required strictly for record and regulatory purposes and to prevent multiple admissions. It simply means that once a candidate secures admission through the latest UTME/DE registration, any previous admission automatically ceases, as the law does not permit a candidate to hold two admissions concurrently.

Failure to disclose an existing matriculation status constitutes an offence. Although the Board's system can detect prior matriculation, any candidate found to have deliberately concealed such information risks forfeiting both opportunities.

The Board therefore cautions the public against misleading interpretations peddled by self-styled education advocates who thrive on distorting official policies for selfish gain. Candidates and parents are advised to rely only on official JAMB guidelines and publications.

🔥 JUST IN

No More Double Admission!

Candidates are no longer allowed to run two programmes concurrently through JAMB. If you have already been admitted into an institution, you must formally withdraw from your current institution and provide evidence of withdrawal before you can be considered eligible for admission into another programme through JAMB.

JAMB REGISTRATION MISTAKE THAT HAS RUINED MANY ADMISSIONS

Every year, many students lose their chances, because of a simple mistake made during registration. NAME MISMATCH.
Let me explain this clearly.
A student may have two names in real life. For example,
Surname, First name.
when you check his official records, you may find this:
• WAEC or NECO result carries only two names
• NIN carries the same two names
• But during JAMB registration, such student ignorantly adds a third name that is not on those documents
This is where the problem starts.
JAMB does not recognize “intended names.” They recognize only what is officially documented. Once the name on your JAMB record does not match your WAEC, NECO, or NIN, you have created a mismatch.

Here's what happens next?
• Your admission can be delayed by your institution or Jamb
• Your admission can be denied by Jamb
• You may be asked to do name correction, which costs money and time and even lost admission at the process
• In some cases, students miss admission completely
And the painful part is this. You may score high in JAMB and still lose admission because of a name error.
The rule is simple.
The name you use for JAMB must be exactly the same as the name on your NIN and O level result. Same spelling. Same order. Same number of names.
No additions. No assumptions. No “that is my real name.”
If you are yet to register for JAMB, pause and confirm your documents before filling the form.
If you have already registered, check your printout now and be sure everything matches.
This small detail can decide your future.
If this helped you, share it.
Someone you save today may be a future graduate tomorrow.
