Promise Amadi, is an amazing Flutter Developer who spoke to the Unizik SUG Directorate of Entrepreneurship in a freelance interview, conducted by Vincent Ogbu. The thrilling interview goes through prospects and viewpoints on the Internet & Technology entrepreneurial ecosystem in Nigeria.

Truly a must read for anyone looking for the right motivation to excel in the technology space, and build amazing products.

—————————————
Q:As a beginning shot, tell us your name. Then, talk to us about your developer-journey: When did you start programming? What languages have you learnt (more like what your knowledge-base of programming languages are?

A: My name is Promise Amadi,
I studied computer science at Abia state polytechnic, I started grooming desire for programming when I attended a Nigerian Association of Computer Science Students (NACOSS) event, the event was held at Abia state polytechnic in the year 2014, I was overwhelmed by solutions built by students from different schools in the south east.

I started programming with Visual Basic 6.0 in the year 2015, I love the simplicity of the language and how it's easy to understand.

Later, I learned VB.Net and built a desktop application which I used for my National Diploma (ND) defence.

During my one year Industrial Training (IT) I was eager to learn how to build mobile application.

During my search, I came across an internship opportunity for RAD5 Tech hub (RAD5 Tech hub is a leading tech hub in abia state ), I applied and luckily I was accepted as a mobile app intern.

I started learning how to build mobile application using Java, the experience I got during my learning stage was utilised.

I was an Andela Learning Community (ALC 2.0) facilitator in Abia state.

I helped to facilitate Andela Learning Community in Abia state, hundred of young individuals from Abia state who were accepted to the program often attend the meet up, at the meet up I teach individuals who are learning how to build mobile application and also help some individuals resolve some issues they are facing while learning how to build mobile application using Java.

The program was a huge success in Abia state and hundreds of youth got employed after the program.

In 2018, I spoke at Google I/O Extended Aba, at the event I heard about Flutter, I was overwhelmed by the amazing mobile app experience one can build if you choose Flutter.

Later in the year 2018, I started learning how to build mobile application with Flutter, I bought a couple of courses and after going through those courses, I learnt how to build mobile application using flutter.

Since, 2018 till today, I have built more than 3 mobile application that are on Google play store, I have written more than 8 articles on Flutter and I have worked with some companies in London, USA and Nigeria.

Q: Having known about you. let's talk about the works you have done. What's your best project/work so far.
You could do well to name a catalogue of projects your brand has done, both Web, Android, AI-powered products etc?

A: Thanks for the opportunity, the first mobile app I built was a football podcast app called Futbol Podcast, I published the app in May, last year.

After that, I was freelanced by a startup in the USA to implement some functionality on their mobile app, the app name is Bev Veg, and some other private project I have worked on.

Q: Having seen the projects you've worked on, let's give fellow Developers what they would appreciate from this interview.
In working on your web and android apps, what languages and hosting did you use?

A: Dart is the programming language I prefer for building mobile apps.

Q:Just like A popular Nigerian developer said, "The true catalyst for growth is in seeing ahead, the immense benefits in towing the entrepreneurial path.
To that effect, do you own a brand or entrepreneurial outfit?
If yes, tell us about it.
Or do you work for a brand?

Q:What motivates you in the Nigerian technology(tech) ecosystem, and in the nearest future(10-15 years), what prospects do you see in the Tech sector in Nigeria?

A: What motivates me in the Nigerian technology(tech) ecosystem is that the ecosystem is very supportive ecosystem and it renders helps to aspiring tech individuals.

In the next 10-15 years Nigerian technology(tech) ecosystem will not just be a major employer of labor but an ecosystem that will compete with fellow ecosystems abroad.

Q: What challenges are evident in the tech industry of today?

A: The amount of Government support felt by some tech industry in some African countries is not up to expectation.
There are low amount of skilled and innovative individual required by the tech industry.
